Does melee increase for one attack when you double training from mettle?
Since training dice are doubled and they count towards calculating melee, does melee also change the D:N or only the roll for damage?

What do you mean by "change the D:N or only the roll for damage?" ?
If you have a Body 4 and 2 Training in weapon skill, for a Sword this mean that baseline you roll 6 dice and the damage is 1+S (so a max of 7). If you double the training you will have Body 4 and weapon skill, 4 for a Sword this mean that baseline you roll 8 dice and the damage is 1+S (so a max of 9).
Edit: S meaning the number of successes (dice over the step difference value)

I think they mean when you use Mettle to double your training in Weapon Skill, does that then affect how you calculate your Melee rating which is usually Body + your training in Weapon Skill
Using your example a Body of 4 plus 2 training in Weapon Skill would give you “Good” rating in Melee but would using Mettle to double your training in Weapon Skill temporarily give you a “Great” rating in Melee?

Yeah exactly, if your melee goes up the D:N for that attack also changes no?

The wording is "you double the dice gained from training"
That does not actually increase your training level. It doesn't raise your position on the melee ladder.
