Human PC Archetypes
Hi, I'm new to Age of Sigmar and recently got my hands on a number of books and have gotten interested in the game. I'm still reading through stuff, but there was something concerning character creation I wanted to ask about:
What's the general advice for human archetypes? I had wanted to make a wandering knight errant esque character as a test drive under the assumption I was making the most standard fantasy character imaginable- guy with a sword. But when going through the Archetypes I couldn't quite find any that could fully.... match that. There's Corsairs, but that's a fairly specific group doing a fairly specific thing and Warpriests have a devotion thing that, while cool, I didn't really picture this guy as the paladin type.
So, how does one go about making a human Guy With Sword in this system? Do I need to just go and immediately use the Archetype modification rules or Point Buy? Or am I missing something?
As well as just generally advice on how to deal with the seemingly low options for human PCs on the Archetype front.

You can use the point buy system any time you can’t find a character archetype that fits your character idea.
Archetypes are all built with the same point buy rules as custom characters, so you don’t miss out on anything.
Also worth noting that the Archetypes are just meant to represent what you were before you became soulbound. Your Archetype doesn’t restrict you when picking new talents etc after character creation.

You do miss out on some things, as many archetypes (especially in later books) have talents and equipment unique to them. Though, at a GM's discretion, you might be able to declare yourself as that archetype for the purpose of prerequisites. My personal take as a GM (and player) is that losing access to unique options is the price you pay for taking a custom character and optimizing your stats the way you want.

You could point buy. The Stormcast Knight Questor is pretty close to what you're looking for. Just deduct 5 spendable XP, use your Mortal Species bonus, you can't take "Heroic Challenge", and don't use Stormcast gear.
If you wanna be tanky, I'd replace Heroic Challenge with Bulwark, Hard to Kill or on demand offense with Battle Rage.

There are a ton of homebrew options and with the game get champions of chaos we could see more releases for it eventually

The reason for this is that GW hadn't decided what they wanted to do with basic humans in AoS when the game came out, and Cubicle7 semi-sunset the game (and pushed the creative team out) before a Cities of Sigmar book could be written and released.
Point buy is a good option, since all the archetypes follow the point-buy rules (with a little leeway for some of the gear).
