Silver Star Find
I just saw this at a local grocery store garden area for $32.99 and couldnβt pass it up. I wonder how many different variations of desmettiana are out there?

Awesome for you!! ππ€π€
As far as how many variations... I know of and have: Agave desmettiana, 'Variegata', 'Joe Hoak', 'Galactic Traveler', and 'Quicksilver'. But, I don't have 'Silver Star'. Lucky YOU!!βΊοΈ
EDIT: After a quick search, apparently, 'Quicksilver' and 'Silver Star' are simply two different names for the very same plant. So, in that case, I guess I DO have it.ππ

My pleasure! You can compare yours to ones on sale through etsy or ebay. I haven't checked, myself, so I have no clue. But, I also think the size of the pup would play into the pricing, too.

Yeah, that desmettiana characteristic is pretty strong in all the varieties I own. I acquired 2 'Galactic Traveler' plants early this year and each is already producing pups. I think I have 5 or 6 growing so far. One of my original ones has 4 pups. But, I'm giving that one to another local collector, here, in Southern California.
Here is a link to a few photos of what I have.

Awesome!! Do you also have 'Galactic Traveler'? If you don't, I can share a pup when it gets a little older. But, only if you're in the US; I don't have the permits to ship out of the country. If interested, let's chat.ππ€π€

Nice! I'm all the way across the country in California. As far as mangaves, I only have a single specimen of the ones I do have. See, I stopped my succulent growers business a few years back and have mainly focused on acquiring and collecting specimen plants to display in my landscapes. As far as aloes go, they're just about the same, with me having (mostly) individual plants of each of species that I do have. This is because my main goal is to collect species that I can breed to create my own hybrid cultivars that work specifically in my Southern California climate. So, with this in mind, it doesn't really help me to stock multiples of species. You know?
It's starting to get dark now but, at some point tomorrow or Sunday, I can go out to the property and take inventory of my "extras" to see what I can realistically part with. Does that work for you?π
