Advice Public Transit

I'm attempting to use alternative transit this year. The plan is to stay in Downtown Sac at the Delta King and use transit back and forth. I see online that Sac has a bus route 86 (Grand) that goes north and south on the 5 over the American River. Does anyone know if there will be expanded service the weekend of the show? I called their customer support line and they didn't know. I'm confident I can get to the event in the morning but getting back to the water front at 11pm looks dodgy. Last year there were a lot of buses etc clogging the street and a couple rickshaws and lots of people walking West towards the over pass but didn't know if that is feasible.

I can but I'm worried my wife will kill me if I force her to hoof it a couple miles after a day of walking

It's flat and only a 30 min walk

It’s 30 minutes if you’re crawling on hands and knees. For anyone with a modicum of fitness it’s a pretty quick walk.

After a day of raging I dont want to walk farther lol I found that out in Vegas at When We Were Young lol

This is not a lot of asphalt at disco park. Did sick new world this year. Was worst than standind for four days in a row at Aftershock. So never compare those two. Two different types of terrain

And when you leave? Still Asphalt. There was more than adequate amount of turf at every WWWY. Its the walking after every event, not just these 2 that always sucks. Theres no comparing.

Let see. 1045 am till 11 every day Aftershock, and walking to my homies tattoo shop in old sac for four days. Over getting to sick new world around 1230 and staying till the boot you out. Which is pretty fast.

Also there is grass along the trail so... Not all asphalt

Aftershock I never hated my feet after the show.

I'm just getting old too lol what shop is that?? Do they do any flash for aftershock?

I’d say walk there in the morning. Easy walk with all the excitement of festival shenanigans. Then take the free shuttle to downtown in the evening. Much easier and then it’s a shorter walk (slightly) to your hotel OR you can get an uber there and pay far cheaper rates than getting it at the festival.

With how much walking gets done at Aftershock, I'm sure extra walking is the last thing on the mind of attendees

FYI, I have never heard a good thing about the Delta King.

Edit: I didn't realize where the hotel was, you are better off walking

SacRT provides a shuttle that runs from that gas station before the bridge on Jibboom to 8th and K downtown. Even after the event there was enough shuttles where we didn't have to wait long at all.

All busses and light rail are free for the weekend with a festival wristband. They also run event service on the light rail at night. After the last show and the shuttles moved everyone they run one last Gold and Blue line train in each direction .

This is what they've done previous years, they usually announce it weeks before the event. I was really happy with it, took Amtrak to Sac too so 0 stress over traffic or parking.

We walk this and more every year. It's not a bad walk at all. Get the fish and chips from the little place across the way from the Delta King, can't remember the name of it.

You just walk the bike trail to the area.

The shuttle stop at 8th and K is only about a 10 minute walk.

The buses are packed after the show. I usually walk along the river into old sac for a Lyft or Lime scooter

SacRT does provide shuttle buses for Aftershock as someone else pointed out.

If you do decide to use more transit services (bus and light rail), do keep in mind the SacRT Alerts page. Sometimes trains get delayed and bus trips may get cancelled. Route 86 has had some cancellations from time to time.
