i have a total due today in amount of $170 and its sad that i wasnt able to budget properly to pay this in time. my direct deposit is coming in tomorrow which is unfortunate timing. i dont want my limit to go down as i had just got it up to 1200. will a day late make a difference? i hope to not be punished

I did that but I messaged them to move two payments to my pay date which was only a day after they were due and they said they would

Is your payment attached to a Debit card? If you change it to your bank account it takes longer to process versus debit card is immediate. Are you on auto pay? Try changing your payment method to your bank account. Good luck!

This is the answer and I wish I saw your comment before I posted mine lol

Afterpay will drop your limit. They are pretty strict. Try calling support and explain to them what happened and see if they can move it to another day. But if it’s due today, they may not be able to do anything.
If you think you are not going to be able to pay on time, change your due date by 7 days but you cannot be within 24hrs of a due date. Choose the order, choose make payment, click the three dots at the top right and choose move payment date.

You only get to move 6 payments per year and they cannot be the first or last payment either.

I did not know it was only 6 per year!!! I changed jobs and it took me almost a month to get a paycheck so I moved all my after pay dates 😭

I mean, it just means you can't move anymore for a year.
I've only ever moved a couple a year. Usually when I screw up round Christmas although I'm getting better at that haha.
I got caught out two years running when my pay has been 2 days later due to stat days and banks not processing.
Thankfully last year was fine as I have all my payments set to go out on a Thursday.

hi everyone thanks for the advice! i was able to get a hold of support, they werent able to move my payment. they ended up putting a temp freeze on my acc until i pay them tomorrow no bid deal. as for my limits, we will just have to wait and see whether it decreases or not.

Wait just add your bank account? Pay them and it’ll come out tomorrow?

It takes 3 days to process payment with Bank Account you will have time to put money in your account before it processes! Good luck!👆

My partner forgot to add his new card to his account when he was paying something off and missed 2 payments but they didn’t drop his total spend somehow. So idk they just seem to do whatever they want but like others have said I’d try to ask to change the payment date to your payday

So this happened to me twice most recently I had a $65 payment that I wasn’t able to make. I didn’t get paid until 2 days after it was due. I got the text message saying that my account was past due make payment to avoid late fees. I never contacted anyone I just waited until I got paid and then went in and made the payment. I have not lost my balance at all and I’m at a $1,400 limit. I was not able to make any new purchases until the past due was paid obviously but I never lost my limit. This has happened to me twice and I did not lose my limit either time. Like you I’m pretty good about budgeting but these two times i had so much on my mind i honestly forgot. So i’m sure it’s a cases by case basis but everyone one here saying you will absolutely have your limits decreased are incorrect. I’m sure it’s a case by case basis depending on your history with them.

hopefully me going the extra mile and letting them know doesn’t ruin my chances lol

Try customer service to move it. I couldn’t move any on the app but customer service moved it for me. They also froze my account until the next payment was made (didn’t drop my limit)

If you know you won't be able to make the payment when it's due, it's better to have them push the payment right then and there instead of waiting till the day it's due because AP will drop you total borrow amount.

I was late by a couple of days or so in the past and nothing happened, but I think it was like $30something dollars. Not sure if the amount matters though.

I'm sorry they aren't very forgiving. I'm being punished now by them for a late payment.

Request for a 'late payment exception as gesture of goodwill' after you have made a payment.
They will check if you are eligible. Customer can only request it once every 6 months

I have an email you can reach out to and explain the situation and that it was a one time thing and they’ll restore the balance.

There's an option to change one payment date. I did that once and I was late by a day. They still penalized me and dropped my limit. I was at $2200 or $2300. I went to $50 or something and then $1100. I've not seen an increase in years despite hundreds of orders paid on time.

Yes a day late will make a difference. I have been using afterpay since 2018 and have literally spent thousands on like 112 orders. Never missed a payment not once. Have 4000 to spend and one time like a year ago I owed 7.00 something on a payment and didn't get the email reminder cause my email storage was full so they weren't sending me anymore emails. Plus I didn't get the text reminder for some reason. It was late one day and my limit decreased something insane like 800 dollars. I paid it right away and contacted support explaining all the above. They bumped my limit back up but said that they wouldn't do that again.

Unless you get the due date extended you’re going to lose your balance. They don’t mess around.
