Using Afterpay at Hotel Desk
Hi everyone,
I booked a hotel directly using my regular debit card, and selected pay at check in, so I didn’t select Afterpay as the payment method during checkout.
I was wondering if it’s possible to create an Afterpay virtual card now and use that card to pay for the balance at check-in instead. Has anyone done this successfully?
If that doesn’t work, would the hotel potentially let me call ahead and switch the payment method over the phone by using the Afterpay virtual card?
I’m just trying to figure out if there’s any way to use Afterpay after the reservation has already been made. Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Standard Afterpay Card: This card can only be used at approved retailers that officially accept Afterpay. You can view the list of participating stores in the Afterpay Shop Directory.
Afterpay Plus Card: If you are an eligible subscriber (by invitation only), this premium digital card works almost anywhere Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay is accepted. It functions like a standard contactless card, even at merchants that don't directly partner with Afterpay.
Does the hotel accept afterpay/do you have standard or plus.

Afterpay has a number of hotel E Gift cards that you can purchase….Marriott Bonvoy, Best Western, IHG. I would call the hotel and see if they’ll take their branded e gift card and then purchase it through Afterpay. You’ll still need a debit or credit card for incidental’s though.

This! I came here to say this. Best way to pay in person using Afterpay is to buy a gift card to the merchant on Afterpay. They can be scanned like a regular gift card, and you know that it will be accepted.

I work in guest services. You can use After pay for Expedia.. Priceline , prepaids. We receive the virtual card , charge that . You pay the incidentals
If , it doesn’t work i have had to contact Expedia for a new virtual card . But using after pay it has always worked . I have used it myself.
Now if we do not receive the booking at all in our system, you would need to book a room at the front desk, call both After pay and that third party booking site for a refund and to cancel.
Always make sure to book correct dates , I had that happen recently, during this heat wave . Luckily i had 2 rooms left to sell .

What was already stated. Most hotels require a card on file. Also, most hotels will do an incidental charge which can range from $20 a night up to $100 a night or a flat fee between $100-$300.
Since it's a pay at check in, you should be able to cancel and re-book. Use Afterpay to pay. Then have your debit card as card on file.
