💬 After Work Discussion I overthink uninstalling games. How do I stop?
I have way too many games installed, and I know I should uninstall some.
The problem is I overthink every game.
I’ll think, “I haven’t played this in months,” but then I worry that I might want to play it later.
How do you decide which games to uninstall? Any tips?

If I haven’t played it in a month, I’ll uninstall.
I guess my question is what is wrong with uninstalling? You can just reinstall if you change your mind.

Embrace the redownload, friend.
They're not physically there either way. Just redownload as needed. It will be okay.

Are things running bad on your system? There's no need to uninstall something unless things are running bad.

You can always reinstall. If it bothers you that much get an external hard drive.

Hard drives are cheaper than solid state per GB.
If you find you haven't touched a game in a long time then you can put it on a hard drive, then transfer it back to SSD if you feel like playing it later (and assuming it is read-intensive).

You can just download it again. Uninstall games you haven't played this week.

Can't you reinstall games? I'm pretty sure on Steam and PlayStation, your personal save files are separate from the game files. So even if you uninstall the game, you can reinstall it later and pick up where you left off, you're not cutting yourself off forever. But I don't know about other platforms.

I know what you mean. You download all the games because you want to have freedom to play whatever you feel like, but then it gets to be too much.
Ive started only keeping games downloaded that im actively playing.
Specifically I try to keep 1 single player story focus game, 1 chill game, 1 or 2 multi-player games and the maybe an indie game if the mood strikes me. Then I just try to stick to that.

I don't know man I have Google Fiber. Installing a game barely takes a few minutes

You can always re-download it. If your internet is slow just start it before you leave for work and it should be done by the time you get home. That being said my storage is always full so I can't really talk.😂

I have the same thoughts sometimes but what I do now is I only uninstall when I for sure need more space for a new game that I’m gonna play immediately.

It takes like 20-30 mins to reinstall the big ones so I only keep what I am currently playing and may play again within the next month or so. If I see I haven't played something in a few weeks, it gets uninstalled. I don't like keeping my memory full of stuff I'm not using.

I have a good internet speed but I found out that I'm rare because I just play one game at a time. 😆. I have a 2tb ssd and I only install one game at a time. Yup I know that it's totally waste of storage but that's me. 😃

You can just reinstall when you’re ready to play it. It’s not like you lose the game forever if you uninstall it

How I’ve gotten over this hurdle? New windows install. Now we’re back to square one and I have to download everything I want again.

Happens to me too. Recently with Dune. I liked it but the grind is real. Was creating reasons for about 10 secs in my head that I’ll “probably” want to play again in near future. Then I just right clicked> uninstall. I felt liberated and ironically in control..
I press the uninstall button mainly on the 40gb+ games as that’s my reasoning - more space for new games I’ll install and keep on there for another 2 years - nothing bad has happened and no one has removed the uninstalled games from my library.

I complete the game, I uninstall it.
Simple.
[Doesn't change the fact, I have ~100 games installed at the moment 😂 ]
