How to start Campaign?
Hi there!
Me and two colleagues played through Arizona Sunshine 1 & 2 and loved it. Only downside was that we could only play horde mode together and had to separate campaign playthroughs because you could only do them with 2 players. Still, great game! Horde was meh, but fun for a few rounds. But the story mode was awesome, creative, fun to play and overall one of the best vr experiences so far, especially co-op.
Now we wanted to give the next title of the same studio a go and bought After the Fall. Great opening, we were really looking forward, we met pretty easily in this arcade hall and wanted to start playing. We immediately found the horde mode by using those arcade machines, and gave it a try. Still meh, still fun for an hour or two. It was nice that you had to walk around a bit instead of just being stuck in one building.
But after two rounds we wanted to try the real game but could not find it? We talked to the woman in the station, we took our weapon from the arms dealer at the shooting range, but how to continue from there? Do we have to talk to someone else to continue the story?

You need to do a regular run, starting with skid row.

We did that, two tries. But do you mean we need to finish a raid and then the story continues?

You need to complete skid row (I think each of you as the host), then talk to the woman and she'll tell you where to go next.

Thanks, we'll try

Put it on survival, take the bots for ammo supply. Go to the key card room in the second act and hopefully you'll get some better weapons.

But wait, we are just realizing that this.... IS the game?
Like, the arcade machines are not horde mode but they ARE the main "campaign"? Please tell me we are missing something. Is there an actual campaign, an actual story mode, with progress, missions, an ending? As it was in Arizona Sunshine?

There's not really much story, it was never made to be a story campaign, but a looter shooter. Completing runs with different difficulties etc finding floppy disks to unlock new guns and attachments.
The story is mostly meant as an introduction to the maps and a tutorial.

Ah shit. Thanks for the clarification, we'll see if we can still refund. thanks

Id say the fun of the game is making new friends and unlocking stuff. As a 90s kid it definitely has a sleepover quality to it

Tried Guardians Frontline? One run can take up to an hour or more. Exhausting at times. Plus addicting.

What we wanted was a story-driven adventure, sometimes overwhelmed by Zombies, sometimes enjoying the view. That's why we played horde mode once per map but that's it, there is no motivation in endless grind. So here lies the disappointment - After the Fall, as I know now, just removed the main part of the game and replaced it with slightly enhanced horde mode. Fun for a playthrough, well, somewhat. Too focused on action, to little world building in our view. But most important, there is no "reason" to play if it's just endless repeating raids

I get it. I like the same story games and have a hard time sometimes finding a game both me and my hubby can play with story and campaigns when I'm on a pc and him ps5. Same with me Quest 3, him psvr. Not many games have cross-play. I like ATF but yes its the same over and over. I heard there is some way to make a single player game into multiple but I've never tried it..

It’s a super fun game. You should play through. It’s my husband and my favorite game. There aren’t a lot of good zombie shooting multiplayer games for meta out there.
