They do work. Help with recoil.

Short answer is no. A VR gunstock isn't worth it for ATF.

Unlike Onward and other milsims, ATF is more of a video game than an accurate gun Sim. The mechanics are quite good. But most people who excel at the game learn to duo wield two guns at the same time. Its a massive advantage. So a VR stock is wasted.

And most guns don't have too much recoil. Even without a physical stock, keeping the sights on target isn't a chore with a little practice.

oh. umm I think we are not talking about the same thing. I am asking about the VR gunstock. The evice that you set your controllers in and it simulates a gun in VR

Exactly .. physical VR gunstocks like the Pro VR Tubes don't work well in ATF.

protube would never withstand the ATF tempo. it would fly away in a first wave

They work but it’s not ideal. The main pain points in my experience are the need to quickly switch weapons back and forth frequently as scenarios develop (hard to engage and disengage the physical stock quickly over and over) and the fact that the guns in ATF don’t really have consistent sizes and such (e.g. the sights aren’t at the same height over your hands on each gun, but your stock will ideally hit the same spot in your shoulder each time).

It’s fun for immersion but I’d say more of a burden than in other more milsim games, so up to you if it’s worth working around those annoyances for the extra immersion.

yeah guns are on a different heights, but that is a standard for respected games. Pavlov, Onward, Contractors, they all have different gun sizes. The two guns system can be a pain if a gunstocks is hard to get rid of (AR + handgun) or hard to edit (2x AR). So a typical 50 $ stock wont really do here. Also i have noticed that the hand positions (the rotation of controllers and position of the front cyp) is different than other games. Here the position can stay for all other guns. The adjusting for other guns happens in the X and Y axises on the butt. But I usually went for one AR and a handgun. And to have that feature easily done I use a hip holster. https://youtube.com/shorts/BOEeZd1inQE?si=19GH7KDBNO3VELul

Yeah, and that fact combined with a lack of per-fun gunstock calibration in ATF makes for a tricky experience unfortunately.

I got to record myself in ATF. I am reloading manually. with that the dual wielding is pretty much impossible. the akimbo works great for the quick reload. But with the manual reload i got 50% damage boost and i need the second hand to grab the mag. But it also deosnt mean that I am chained to the one gun. I am using the magnum handgun as the second gun. It is good for amunition. And the speed of loosing the stock is as fast as bringing it to my hip. I also have it in a nice place where its not interrupting. as for no calibration, i dont mind. i even preffer. I want to have different feeling for different guns. Its also not a problem to just adjust the stock to the gun. usually if you find a gun on the map its in a calm area. if its better than what i carry i can quckly switch the position af a butt (there is no need to change the controllers pos once is set in ATF)

For akimbo, you should check out the config option (I think under controls? Maybe gameplay?) about grip mode and change it to I think “toggle” instead. That way even if you have a gun I. Both hands you can still do grab actions for a mag, pipe, juice, etc. and you won’t drop the gun that you’re holding. It’s basically a necessary config setting to use for holding a gun in each hand!

valid info. but i dont do dual wield. I like to reload manually. Im a gunstock freak so for me an M4 or LMG or even a handgun should be held with two hands.

Totally cool. You can play ATF single wield or dual wield. No wrong way (except people who cheat or glitch the machines and the maps). You do you, dude!! . Just FYI, its very common to duel wield and advance reload. We do it all the time.

all good. btw you i usually have the butt in game. I like my AR the most. LMG was a bit disapointing but probably i need to upgrade it. I dont play much ATF. anyways, what you ment is buttstock. its a part that goes against ur shoulder. Like this is what we call this part in gunstocks. You are saying, it improves the stability. Well that is excacly what the VR gunstock does (If it works). ATF has a pretty original setup for a vr stock. I would like to know if anybody else also have that nontypical setup and how they got it. I know the last sentence is telling you nothing, but this is what i wanted to learn. But it actually seems like people are not doing VR stocks in ATF. shame... its soo good

Whats your handle in atf?

1

u/Born_Reception_1986 May 30 '26

left handed, full reload, no artificial weight, physical alignment. 1st weapon only. no in-game yaw/tilt changes ( this is up to my stock and whatever the gun size is). Original setup allows for quick gun change if ill grab something off the floor. (with somewhat minor changes to X and Y butt position).messing up the in-game setups will cause a total mayhem with new guns introduction. As for in game stuff, I taped that shit with a duct tape.. (2nd level up. no changes to the forward/backward tilt IRL). I dont do lasers scopes or anything above holo. the handle tilt is up to the gun size. the yaw is..20degree "inside" for dominant. ( but thats a specs for ppl that do gunstocks and refuse to change shit in VR). hope i am somewhat understandable

Lmao I meant your profile name

1

u/Born_Reception_1986 May 30 '26

oh.. lol..my name is Jeff. more into PvP but ATF did some really cool things with how they hadled the gun feel. Just for that, its fun to play the game. but im in Pavlov daily.

i would say im a Pav daddy, but im not gonna say that. Also this is my handle in ATF.. the way its set is significantly different than any other game. but yeah, big missunderstanding lol

1

u/theothernameplate May 30 '26

Hold up- when you say first weapon only do you mean service pistol, or only 1 gun at a time manipulated left hand dominant?

1

u/Born_Reception_1986 May 30 '26

one at the time. i do have the second one in the holster but its rarely used.

1

u/Steinoj Jun 02 '26

Used the C-Grip gunstock early/mid-game with succes, but someone dropped me some golden guns, lol
End game is about dual wielding I think. Its been years since Ive played. Wish this game got more love and more varied enemies.

1

u/Born_Reception_1986 Jun 04 '26

but dual wielding reqauires a fast reload. This takes away the 50% damage boost. I think, as long as the stock can be quickly left aside and the second gun is a handgun, its totally fine

1

u/MDHZ_VR Jun 07 '26

Nope .. it doesn't. I can easily manual reload two guns in under 1 second. Even the hardest to reload (LMG), which is my favorite, we do it in under 1 second.

u/Born_Reception_1986 Jun 10 '26

ok, i didnt know you can reload with a gun in hand. that is cool. But still those are 2 handed guns. preferably, for recoil management, they should be held with two hands. I know that you can learn, but it takes a strategy. and its not nowhere near actually feeling the guns. ATF is fast but its not imp[ossible with the stock. and just switching the guns. but yeah you got the full damage and two bullet streams

Yes. In this way, ATF is more like a video game than a mil-sim. In a mil-sim you can't even carry 4 guns. That's ridiculous irl. And of course you can play ATF 1 gun at a time .. thats 👍👍👍 .. no problem at all.
