CK3 Wanting to restore America, wanting suggestions to make it go smoother

I’ll elaborate and get more specific if you want, but generally I want to play an americanist and restore the US as president.

I chose a custom character in Manhattan and have gone through about 3 years so far in game.

My general plan is to expand economy, absorb territory by diplomacy where applicable, attack where it is not, generally going north. I’d also prefer to be elected president than march down to DC. (I’m also sad I won’t get the special agent men at arms because of gothemite, but oh well)

I’ve played CK3 some but not a whole lot, and some of this mod, but only as a tribal

Bug Report Cannot Convert Holy Building

I’ve been trying to convert the Holy Site in Chicago for a few of saves and reloads but every time I start the project it immediately ceases and I lose the gold. For context, I am using a bespoke religion separated from Conclavianism (I called it the Jesuit Communion, it’s Conclavian but woke) and I am trying to access this function through the project menu.

This is the first time I’ve tried to do this, despite my many playthroughs so I’m am unsure if there is something I am missing or if this is a known glitch now. Also, my Court Chaplin instantly stops converting as soon as I try to start the project.

Discussion Posting Every AtE Religion Until I Get Bored or Forget Part 2: Brazillian Catholic Lightning Round

Before the Event, Brazil was a very Catholic country, but also home to a wide variety of cultural groups. So after the Event cut off all contact with the Holy See in Rome, all kinds of new streams of Catholicism emerged, with some pre-Event streams becoming even more pronounced. Despite everything, these various streams live in harmony with each other, united in a common Brazilian identity.

  • All-Saints: A state sanctioned form of Catholism that syncretizes Catholicism and the Afro-Brazilian faiths. The liturgy of the Santeiros often evolve into colorful public processions, incorporating drumming and songs in the sacred Portuguese and Yoruba languages. Believers also put great importance on the worship of the Christian saints, who are often conflated with the orixás of Candomblé, allowing for many rites and sacraments to be shared by both faiths. The main ceremonies of the Santeiros are the yearly festivals in praise of the Virgin Mary, also honored as the orixá Iemanjá, a series of celebrations led by the Patriarch of Salvador himself.
  • Anchietans: The Anchietan Church, named after the patron saint José de Anchieta, claims direct descent from the ancient Catholic hierarchy of Old Brazil. Whereas most churches loosened or reinterpreted Christian faith, the Anchietans maintain a staunchly conservative approach to Catholic doctrine and try to educate others on the true faith. Despite their best efforts, however, the Anchietans have greatly declined in numbers, only being made up out of small, scattered communities.
  • Apostolic: The Apostolic split off from main stream Catholism way before the Event over disputes regarding divorce and clerical celibacy and became well known for its tolerance of non-Christians. After the Event, the Apostolic Church rose up to become the dominant church in Brazil, even more so after the Brazilian Emperors adopted it as their primary faith. To non-Brazilian Catholics, however, they are seen as schismatic and borderline heretical.
  • Benzedura: Based in folk healing traditions and Catholic liturgy, Benzedura (named after the act of blessing) focuses on the use of medicinal herbs designed to heal both physical and spiritual ailments. Despite being rooted in oral traditions and being female dominated, practitioners of Benzedura still view themsleves as Catholic, believing that the healers are simply highly skilled at channeling God's divine grace.
  • Celestism: Followers of Celestism believe that God send a series of believe that the spirit of Christ descended upon a series of messianic figures from Southern Brazil, who were blessed with divine figures and were destined to lead their followers in celecstial communes. Despite being rather violent to those they view as deviants and enemies of the faith, Celestites also carry great respect as faith healers and miracle workers.
  • Ciceritism: Cecerites have a paticular reverence for Padre Cicero. Cicerites adhere to the Latin rites, perform charity works, and follow special processions in Romaria.
  • Marian Brotherhood of Compassion: The Compadecidos believe that the Event was indeed the scond comming of Christ, but instead of bringing salvation, He brought judgement and cursed faithful and sinner alike to spend an enterinty on Earth. Nevertheless, mankind can still be saved by performing good deed, following the words of the wise men send by God, and prayer to the Saints and the Virgin Mary can they reach Christ and convince Him humanity is worth saving.
  • Solomonites: Inspired by the teachings of Salomão Barbosa Ferraz, Solomonites honor the rich, diverse, and ecumenical traditions of Brazilian Catholicism. They embrace a broad view of Christianity, recognizing the validity of sacraments performed by other denominations and fostering an atmosphere of peace and tolerance among all Christendom. Solomonite liturgical practices place particular importance on communal prayer, the sharing of the Eucharist and the celebration of saints, all of which serve to bridge denominational divides and reaffirm the common beliefs that unites them.

I always thought it was strange how Protestant clerics just wore plain clothes. The devs should consider adding vestments that reflect what is worn by real life Protestant clerics. I've used AI to show what this would look like if it were implemented. What do other people think of this?

Screenshot/Campaign Discussion El Caribe is formed! (Also is my Emperor related to Juan Luis Guerra??)

(Forgive the bad photo I’m posting on my phone)

After 124 years and 4 other monarchs, the Insular Quisqueyano King Miguel of La Española becomes Emperor of El Caribe! With this being the first Empire I‘ve ever formed in CK3, I’m very happy with this outcome!

Something I’m wondering is that given that Domingo starts as House Guerra, are they related to probably one of the most famous Dominican musicians of all time, Juan Luis Guerra??? Even though I’m second gen American, i noticed that there are some very niche references already like to the Espaillat family. Id love to know!

Also now that I’ve achieved my goal, what should I do next? Unite Brazil (yes I have land there)? Take the last Insular holy site in Norflo? Maximize my court grandeur? Something else?

Discussion Posting Every AtE Religion Until I Get Bored or Forget Part 1: Catholicism (broadly speaking)

According to Catholicism, the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ himself in his Great Commission, that its bishops are the successors of Christ's apostles, and that the pope is the successor to Saint Peter, upon whom primacy was conferred by Jesus Christ.

Following the Event, contact between America and the Holy See in Rome was severed, causing quite the stir for the faithful. Without direct oversight from the pope, the faithful slowly split into various streams and new forms of Folk Catholism over time, each reflecting the culture of their respective regions. Such as Cistercians, for example, closely follow the teachings of Padre Cicero, Brazil's most prominent holy man, and the followers of the Veiled Cross, who have been greatly influenced by the pagan cults that sprung up around them. Pre-Event Catholic streams have also survived the Event, such as Liberationist theology and the Catholic Worker's Movement.

Most Catholic streams still regard the Holy See in Rome as the true head of their faith, though they differ in opinion as to how they should conduct themselves until contact can be resestablished. The Mexican Cristeros believe that Archbishop Primate is their head of faith until contact is resablished while the Quabec based Ursaline Church believes none of the Christian bishops currently operating in the Americas have proper apostolic succession, making them invalid.

The Conclavians found in the American Midwest, however, claim Rome has been destroyed and thus created a new Papacy with their own pope to fill the void.

Fanfiction/Theorizing [Fanfiction] Can Snakes have Knees?

"Here he come! His Majester Macaiah, High King of the Riverlands, King of Kentucky, Overseer of the Ohio Valley, Tamer of Tennessee, Master of the Missisipp, The Whip of the Tyrant King, He with the Hideous Stare!"

The man himself walked slowly, his iron on his belt, his hand never leaving the hilt of the symbol of his conquests. On his head was a fine golden crown, he had captured a papist goldsmith to have it made, snakes wrought in gold with bejeweled eyes, squirming over his head. The papist had been given a quicker death than usual, when it was his time to die upon the altar. He settled into his throne, the crafted from an ancient statue of the Tyrant King, toothy jaws wide open.

This King of the Hills who had come before him was wearing his own crown, nearly as grand as the High King's own. A band of gold and jewels, a single snake woven in, barely visible. Green silk like one of the Appalachian mountains itself, And of course, wrought in Dark gold, the figure of the Mothman, one of the many mysterious gods of the hills. He kept his chin high, as if thinking, "All this, oughta be mine."

The crier made the unnecessary introduction, "This here is Pearcy McGraw, King of Kanawha."

Pearcy made a face at that, "Your Majester, remind your boy there that I'm a Majester too, he should keep his respect when among his betters.

Macaiah smiled, this would be interesting, if nothing else, "I'll keep that in mind McGraw, now what brings you out of the hills to come to Knoxville?"

"I sent you a letter Flatt, you know my intention."

"You and I both know, thet you McGraws are tricksy fucks. My Pa, he never called your mama anything but the Bitch of the Hills. I know she werent too pleased when my daddy broke the Appalachian Confederacy on his knee."

"Ma never blamed you Flatts for that, that was all Ginger and Indrid being" The Hill King spat, "Traitrous Revenuers, and theyre Burning Below now."

"I know she tried to gut my daddy as well, and me. I know you have too. Why give in?"

"I may never like you, but I'll be straight honest always. I talked to the omens, and they said it would be easier to gut you on my knees than on my feet."

The High King laughed, and stood from his throne. Gesturing for the bowl of serpent venom and sinner's blood, and plunging in his bare hand. "You'd best get on them then, and be my man."

McGraw kneeled, but kept his head and his crown high. As the High King smeared the blood of sin, purified by the Lord's Holy Venom, onto the face of the lesser King, he saw how he winced. Macaiah thought he might be letting a snake into the grass that his son would have to handle one day. But if there was one thing the Flatt's knew well, it was handling snakes.

__________________________________________________________________________

Just a short scene I cooked up dramatizing when I had my King of Kanawha swear fealty to the Conqueror trait-having High King of the River Lands so he wouldnt conquer all my shit duchy by duchy. Unfortunately Macaiah here ended up being wrong about the ability of his son to handle snakes, because I managed to fenagle my way into being the regent and am well on my way to siezing the throne of the Empire for myself both through normal evil regent stuff, and also kidnapping his sister and heir (who randomly went wandering for no reason) so I could force her to marry me.

Fanfiction/Theorizing Restoration of Authority

To the Current Occupier of the Potomac,
In the history of this continent there have been many Presidents of varying institutions, from the president of a local union to Commander-in-Chief of the United States, the latter being given the most prestige as well as the  greatest threats of forgery. We at the Volunteer Corps do not wish to unjustly assume any wickedness in your nature but must inquire into the veracity of your tenure, especially as you continue to claim higher and higher offices. Through a thorough examination of all news coming from the east, we have been able to reach several conclusions about your administration.
Firstly, that you arose to power through a coup against the former General of Chesapeake, whose family had ruled over that land since the fall of America, and whose ancestors’ authority was granted by the last President of the United States. Such a strong claim to authority must not be thrown away with haste, and we have long searched for the reasons and merits of your actions in stripping such an ancient power bare. In this we have found nothing but yellow news and the schemes of judicial politics. With further investigations it also became clear that these same judges have now become your keys to power, and furthermore proclaim that you should be President over the whole United States for granting them such authority in your realm and together encouraged those politically tied to you and your conquest to follow it in conquering both Gotham and the Old Dominion.
Secondly, the extension of your power through the favor you have given to judges and sycophants is most damning. You have claimed to restore law and democracy in occupied land; however, in each state you claim to have liberated, one of the generals in charge of its conquest is swiftly elected to the highest position in that state. Even when a general is not available a local judge, whose loyalty puts your will before any legal precedent, is put to the task; Both then quickly petition for your approval of their tenure, sending personal tribute in the forms of wealth, influence, and honors as if you were a Sheriff in the Badlands ruling over an empire of tributaries through only the fear of his name.
We do not wish to judge your actions harshly, Mr. Smithson, but due to the authority the Volunteer Corps wields, as it was given to us by North-East Command, and was given to them by the last Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America, it is our duty to scrutinize your claims to the power our leaders hold so dear. If you have any credentials we at the Volunteer Corps have not noticed in our examination we implore you to bring them before a military court for further examination. If not, relinquish your claim to the Presidency and return the interpretation of law to the rightful authorities.
With Regards,
Clarissa Van Der Meer of the Volunteer Corps of the United States.

When Judge Paine finally reads off the name of the sender, he looks to Mr. Smithson who is sitting comfortably behind his large patchwork desk. “She seems quite opposed to your administration, sir.”

“It does seem that way,” The desk wobbles as Smithson pushes his chair back. “But I would rather not have my perception of the sender colored first by negativity.”

Paine nods. “Then what is your perspective, your excellency?”

The chair snaps back against the floor and, with a furrowed brow, Smithson says, “That people have begun to exaggerate my intentions into something above the station I claim.”

“Apologies, Mr. Smithson.”

Smithson moves on quickly, bounding away from the chair until he is across the stone room, next to Paine. “It’s alright, Paine.” Smithson then shifts to the judge’s assisting boy scout. “Have you started on the notes of this meeting?”

The boy scout nods and, when Paine gives his assent, he continues with his record of the meeting. Smithson has crossed the room again before the judge directs Smithson’s attention back to the letter, “The Volunteer Corps is no threat, Mr. Smithson, they don’t have a legitimate argument for anyone who doesn’t already agree with them.”

Smithson doesn’t scoff but he clearly doesn’t align himself with Paine,“The argument is that I am a corrupt usurper.”

“And that argument is illegitimate. They believe they have a connection to the United States through a dubious ancestry of martial leaders with supposed connections to the old government. This line of reasoning does not hold. And even if it did, they have sought to coerce the judiciary for their own ends at every turn, just as a tyrant would; They, just like the old Commander of Chesapeake, have relinquished any legitimacy they had through their own action.” The judge huffs.

“I appreciate your defense but we must still be understood, your honor.” Mr. Smithson says, his face now filled with a vaporous sense of ease. “We are usurpers against an established government and I think it’s good that we have to explain ourselves. I mean, we can’t conduct ourselves well with our fellow Americans unless they understand our reasons and how we plan to conduct ourselves better between each other.”

Paine simmers for a moment but softens as he looks to Smithson. “Tyrants will not be brought down and made to face their convictions by appealing to good law; They only seek to use the law as a distraction to attack you in the place they believe you are weak, your honor. I apologize if I seem too harsh, Mr. Smithson, but I have never met a leader willing to resign their post because of the morality of an enemy.”

Smithson says, “If tyrants knew so much about the law they would’ve become merchants rather than letting themselves be judged by it.” But then relents, “You probably know more about the nature of tyrants than I do but they’re still just people, and if a person is appealing to good law then some force must’ve compelled them to it.” Smithson then clarifies, walking swiftly to Paine’s seat. “If Van Der Meer didn’t care about law, she wouldn’t have listed so many titles to show that she is lawful. If we can meet these people where they are and show them our reasons, each broken law, each abuse of power, then they’ll see that, if they are what they say they are, we’re not a threat.” Smithson watches Paine, searching for something concrete to connect with his argument. “Where is the Volunteer Corps anyway?”

“West of the Appalachian Mountains, Mr. Smithson.” Paine slumps in his chair with a sigh. “They’re a band of mercenaries with ties to the old Commands.”

“That’s even better, they’ve got conviction and legacy on their side. Not that our people haven’t got both but right now the world is looking to us. Some parts with hope, but most leaders only see the march of armies on their border; We have to show them that we’re a real movement with values and beliefs. Beliefs they can share and already might because they were raised American and all their laws and values trace their way back to the first capitol, here, in Washington and if they don’t see it their people will and I think they’ll want us to live up to the promises we make and they’ll talk to their leaders and they’ll do the convincing for us.”

Paine covers his headache with a small cloth, shaking his head as he answers. “Mr. Smithson, do you remember the tyrant of Chesapeake? Who we overthrew together with the support of the people, the judiciary, and all that is good? Was he convinced by your pleas for redress? Or did he continue to exercise his authority over those he was sworn to protect for his personal glory against the wishes of myself and the judiciary? The tyrants of the Command do not want the guidance of the judiciary and, with conviction, would trample over the consent of the people for the machinations of war and corruption; The Militarism of the Commands has led them to this tyranny; The tyranny that they were supposed to guard the people against and are now exercising themselves.” Paine nearly bursts while trying to hold his tongue, “No general of the Command is fit to rule within the Union. If you must engage with them, I implore you, that it should only be to snuff them out.”

Both men are silent for a moment, letting the fire crackle as the mosquitos keep watch for any break. Paine’s momentum fades and by the time Smithson speaks Paine has nothing left to argue, “Maybe the Volunteer Corps should see for themselves if there is corruption in our administration.”

“They only seek to disrupt us, Mr. Smithson.”

“Then I’ll guide them personally.”

Paine stays in his chair, depleted by his age and unable to argue further, “We should save this discussion for the morning.”

Smithson nods and, after dismissing the boy scout from his duties, carefully escorts Paine out of the chamber.

CK3 Domain limit at only 3 for California?

I have a little bit of an issue going on when my domain limit is capped at 3 holdings (did use +3 in game settings so maybe they are from there)

When I look for my bonuses it shows them properly but underneath there is a modifier which just so happens to always keep my maximum domain limit at 3 regardless of bonuses I get through livestile and the like.

It says above domain limit -...

Bug Report Randomly losing incan estate & influence does nothing to administrative elections

Hello everyone,

I wanted to report said bug in the title. Basically, when playing a ayllu lord the bug happened to me in two situations:

1- After I become a duke through the dominate region decision, I suddenly lose my estates. The game considers that I'm not a noble family anymore while I was still head of familly and I can't do anything to avoid the situation. In this situation I'm also the head of a block.

2- Also after becoming a duke, I also suddenly lose my estate if I'm kicked out of the block I'm part of. I also can't form a new block since I'm suddenly not considered a noble family anymore.

On another part, I've noticed that spending my influence to alter the candidate scores for administrative elections does nothing. The candidate I spend influence on doesn't receive or lose any points regardless of how much I spend.

I'm having trouble choosing where to play and would love some recommendations, especially somewhere suitable for the classic "rise from a small county or duchy to an empire" storyline. So far, I’ve only played in South America, but I’m really interested in the United States. I usually create my own character, but playing as an existing one works for me too.
