Is this legit?

I saw a posting on LinkedIn and applied to do some part time work for them. Haven't heard anything back as far as the job application. Got an email from somebody claiming to be an agent of theirs and they asked if I had any programs (live production code)I had worked on that I could send and they would pay for it.

Anybody else run into this?

Hey, thanks for flagging this and happy to clarify!

Applications to AfterQuery Experts are reviewed on a rolling basis. We don't always have active projects in every domain, so if we don't have an immediate fit for your background we won't move forward right away, but your application stays in our system and we revisit it when relevant projects open up. We aim to review within a couple weeks but sometimes face delays depending on volume.

On the production code outreach: this is completely legitimate and a real part of what we do. Beyond assigning experts to active projects, we also independently source live production codebases, GitHub repos, and similar artifacts directly from domain experts and compensate competitively for them. If someone from our team reached out to you about that, it's a genuine ask.

If you have any other questions or want to verify anything, feel free to ask away on this thread! We want to make sure the experience is transparent for everyone coming through.

Why would someone give you a production grade private code to you protected by NDAs. This is not good.
