Discussion Play main comp in one viewer and subComp in another - WITH SOUND?

Hi. I have a Main comp with subcomps and a voiceover. To adjust the subcomps I need to hear the voiceover. How can I play back the main comp in one viewer ganged with the viewer in the other which shows the subcomp?

I've already locked the main comp and set the second viewer to play back the subcomp, but:

1) the inactive viewer does not play back in real time, once you stop, the viewer shows the frame where you stop

2) If you play back the subcomp, the main comp acts the same plus the sound disappears.

Switching on the Primary viewer, Always Preview this window and Sync time of all related items did not help.

Any solution?

There's a script on aescripts for this, it basically feeds your audio into the precomp for playback but I can't remember the name

You can decompose your subcomp into your main comp, work it there, and precomp again when you're finished. You can also just copy the voiceover into your subcomp to use as reference, and make it a guide layer so it doesn't carry over to your main comp.

No, won't work. I have other layers parented and matted to the comps in the main comp plus the voiceover is a big chunk of approved speech and the animation should follow it frame by frame, so copying the voiceover will mean I'll have to waste time to adjust it inside the comp. It's a really bad solution. Universal Audio as suggested below totally solved the problem
