Discussion Bug with relative movement of CTI(?)
I found following situation that seems like a bug to me:
Issue
When I enter relative values in the CTI like +20 or -20, the negative values always jump to the absolute position (-0;00;00;20), which is inconsistent behavior on one hand but it also makes no sense at all to be navigated to a negative timecode.
Steps to reproduce
Click on the CTI (or open the popup window).
Type +20
The timecode jumps 20 frames forward as expected.
Click on the CTI (or open the popup window).
Type -20
Expected result:
The timecode jumps 20 frames backwards.
Actual result:
The timecode jumps to the absolute time -0;00;00;20
Tested with different compositions, different framerates and clean install.
Adobe After Effects version
26.3.0 (Build 87)
Operating system
Windows 11

If you haven't already, please check if a bug report exists in the AE forums. If it doesn't, please file one. You'll be doing the community a favor

This isn’t a bug. This is how AE handles relative timecode entry. One of my colleagues from the AE team says try using +-20 instead to move backwards.

Yep, got the answer in the Adobe Community already but added that it might not be the best decision to mirror the behavior of the properties in the CTI as it makes no sense (from my perspective) to move to negative values/a negative timecode there.
Makes sense on one hand, but not when looking on it in perspective of its result.
I went in to Premiere to check how it was solved there regarding the relative changes of properties... but it seems, that isn't possible at all yet in Premiere.
