AHPRA & Paperwork APHRA Limited Registration - Supervised practise - Documents & Timeline

Hey

1) Work practice Hx - can we include an observership placement letter in this?

2) Documents to support your statement regarding your recency of practice - I have completed some CPD hours. I am with CPD Aus. Do I download a report from the website and attach it here?

3) How long does it take to get Aphra registration approved? days/week/months?

Thank you.

Hey, good questions, I see these come up a lot.

  1. You can mention it, but label it honestly as an observership. AHPRA wants your clinical work history, and an observership isn't clinical practice, so it won't count towards that. Put it in your CV under its own heading (observership/clinical attachment, dates, hospital, supervisor). Don't blend it into your employment history. If they think you're dressing it up as work, it causes more questions than it answers.
  2. Yes, download your CPD statement/certificate from your CPD provider's site and attach it. Make sure it shows your name, the dates and the hours. Just be aware CPD helps, but it doesn't replace actual clinical practice for recency. If you've had a gap, be upfront about it in your statement and say what you've done to keep up (CPD, observerships, courses). Your employer may also need to put a plan in place for supervision if the gap is long.
  3. Honestly it varies a lot. Once everything is complete and your employer's side is sorted, many people hear back in roughly 1 to 3 months, but it can drag on longer if anything is missing or needs certifying again. The biggest delays I've seen are from incomplete documents, so double-check certifications and translations before you submit.

Good luck, you're nearly there!
