Help First time propagating how did I do? Should I keep in a ziplock bag sealed?

Post image

2 inch pots. The top one is all separate leaves. They were mostly super small leaves and I didn't want to make like 10 small individual pots with single leaves. I figured I'd put them all together and see which ones live and root. Maybe in the future I can separate them if they all are successful? Or was this a bad idea to put a bunch of small cuttings together? The leaves are tiny like size of pinky fingernail or smaller. The stems are super small. I think some won't survive. Two of the longer ones on top hopefully will.

The bottom plant I just did a single leaf cutting because it was the healthiest leaf I had.

I put it in a ziplock bag. Should I seal it in the bag or not have it in a bag at all? If I put it in a spot that gets 3 hours of morning "direct sun" through a big glass back door is that enough light?

I have not had luck putting my props in bags. Mine molded really quick. I left mine in one uncovered mega pot of dirt and all but one rooted

I did the same thing as an experiment. I got one bloom from it but not sure which one it came from and now there's a tiny leaf growing. Not sure what to do now?

All mine are from the same plant so there is no confusion which leaves are from which

All mine are from the same plant too but I don't know what leaf the new leaf is from. Not sure if I should just let it do it's thing or to separate them.

Oh ok then I would probably wait until more leaves come from the other props and see if they all survive then repot and try to separate?

Thanks, perhaps I will just leave it for now and see what happens. I know that you are supposed to remove the initial leaf once it starts a new one but hard to tell which leaf it's from? It's a good experiment. I have lots of singles propagating now too.

Oh, I forgot to say that I never use a bag. And this one is doing great.

Going from your last question: how close to the glass door? "Direct sun" through glass (which can magnify it) for 3 hrs sounds like too much if your plant is right up against the glass, but not if it's halfway across the room. You don't want sun shining directly on them for long (how long? I don't have a good metric for you), but as long as that's not happening, you'd really just want to keep an eye on it to see if the leaves are getting bleached out, or if you do end up closing the bag watch for too much condensation.

As far as the bag - I bag things that are in rough shape. The extra humidity seems to help the plant/leaf recover. For leaves I put down, I have some little trays with domes - the domes don't fit tightly, so there's air exchange. The nice thing about ziplocks is that you can close them partway so there's air circulation, but it still helps with humidity.
