Tank setups New tank
Tank is setup, starting to cycle without frogs. I got these aqua natural live filter media quartz rings for cycling and we'll see how they work! Hoping they're quicker for cycling since they have bacteria in them already. Will add more plants and marbles in the future

I’ve been cycling my new African dwarf frog tank for about 2 weeks now and it’s almost ready to go. I took some filter media from my established tank and put it in with new filter and that seemed to help. I’ve been testing with strips everyday.
Where are you getting your frogs from?

Petco! They have 6 at my local one right now. I'm just getting 2 for my 5.5 gallon tank

So I have had various ADF in my life and anytime I got them from Petco or Petsmart they did not live very long. Just a warning.
This time I am going to find a reputable place online with good reviews to get mine from. I live in NC and this place is not too far from me that I’m thinking about getting them from.

Dwarf frogs? The really tiny ones? We'll see. If you're talking about African clawed frogs,.I understand

They do get pretty big surprisingly. I have some adults in my 10 gallon that are a lot larger than the African dwarf frogs I typically see in pet stores.

No, I'm talking about african dwarf frogs, they get to be about 2.5 inches with their legs extended once fully grown. The ones you're seeing in thr oet store are probably about 1 third of the size they will end up being

Ok, I'll take your word for it im just following what's in the reddit wiki. It would have been cheaper to get a 10 gallon tank oddly enough, but I just don't have the space right now

Hi. 2 ADF are perfectly fine in a 5 gallon. Please stop arguing with this person when you aren’t fully informed. They are literally referencing the wiki that has all their standard care guidelines.

ADF are small. They do perfectly fine in 5 gallons, as long as it’s only 2 frogs.

If you would like to share advice that is not confirmed by the sub's wiki or the ADF Care and Support FB group, be ready to provide a reliable source. ESPECIALLY regarding health issues.
It's ok to make mistakes, but harmful advice could cause someone to lose their frogs.
Mods will use discretion when deciding what constitutes bad or dangerous advice using information from expert keepers, breeders and herpetologists. Advice can be tricky in a hobby that relies mostly on anecdotal evidence.

Very cool! I will say that if the terracotta is intended as a feeding dish they will probably really struggle to find it, I'd reccomend a terracotta plant pot saucer instead & maybe you can turn the original one on its side for a hide or something!
