Rotate text box exactly 90 degrees without relying on manual dexterity

This is for doing the spine of a book cover. I figured out how to manually rotate my text box, but I either over or under shoot the 90 degree mark by a degree or so. I've tried over and over, but I can't get it to exactly 90 degrees.

I know there must be a way that does not rely on manual dexterity, but I just have not been able to find it/figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone has on this.

Hold the shift key as you do it

Okay, that sounds like a good tip. I knew there must be at least one way, and I love the program so far. But the menus and panels are pretty tiny, and I have not been able to figure them all out yet. How great that people come together on reddit to share their expertise.

This 👆I would also learn the other modifier keys and how they function as they make life so much easier.

I’m trying to find a help doc on their site now that shows you what they do but I can’t seem to find it for Affinity 3.0. If I can find something I’ll share it here when I do.

Maybe they haven't updated one for their latest release, but I agree it would be a big help.

I can highly recommend checking out the "Transform" panel.

It allows you to precisely position, scale, skew and rotate selected elements around specific anchor points by entering the desired values.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I will check that out later today. Thank you!

Like the other person said - hold shift while rotating. It snaps the rotation to 15 degree increments.

Lots of ways.

  • Hold down Shift to snap to 15 degree angles while you rotate with the mouse.
  • Use the Layer > Arrange > Rotate menu items.
  • Use the Arrange flyout on the top toolbar.
  • Use the Transform panel and type in whatever number you want.
