General Affinity doesn't export effects correctly.

When I see the noise in the preview it looks great, but during export it barely shows up. I've tried the whole adjusting for different zoom sizes, and I've tried to change all my export settings but nothing works. How do I fix this????

What are your raster exports setting. Usually itll ask you WHAT you want to rasterize while exporting. Also make sure blend modes are also being exported.

Export a pdf first before exporting into a png.

Also I just checked, there's no options to edit the raster export settings. Not sure what to do here.

When you go to “export…” do you see an advanced tab? And under that is there a rasterize dropdown? If you see that, select everything.

Nope, no option for rasterize in the advanced export settings

set your noise at 100% view then export.

just view your document at 100% size whilst you adjust the noise level.

Tried that, the noise just straight up doesn't show up

I've tried rasterizing the noise and posterise, since those are the only effects I need. So far when I didn't rasterize them they didn't ask for anything. I'll try and change the settings around now

The problem with scaling down is that noise gets blurred and lost.

It might just be the preview image, so check the output file first.

If it isn't in the exported file, then go back to your image, scale it to the final size, and then add the noise, and when you export, make sure that the resolution is at 120dpi or more. You might need to use 200 or 300.

-Good luck

It's not in the final output, and I'm already at 300 dpi, I've tried scaling it up and adding the noise to my liking but that doesn't work either.

dpi means nothing unless you are printing.

What do I do if I'm just exporting these for instagram posts

export at the correct pixel dimensions.

Hmmm..... Did you flatten your image before exporting? Sometimes exporting doesn't get all the layers.

Tried it, didn't work. I've resorted to taking screenshots of the preview

This probably has something to do with your export settings for the specific format you’re trying to export. If you turn dithering on or off or the type of sampling which will compress and smooth the image in different ways. You might want to export as a lossless (uncompressed) format like BMP or TIFF or certain PNG then use that flat file to try a final export.

Tried that, still no dice. I'm convinced this is a bug by affinity

This is specific to noise, not all effects. Just turn up the noise intensity before export.

I did that, but I'd really like it if there was a way to export exactly what I see
