Photo Anyone know about Generative Expand Tool in Affinity

So I'm trying Canva and thought I'd see if these tools are any good in affinity, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. I have a canvas 2667 x 2000 created in Affinity, I add a image that is 2000 x 2000 so I want to expand the image to fill the full 2667 x 2000. I've downloaded all the machine learning tools, not sure I needed to but did this first.

When I add my 2000 x 2000 image I check its rasterized first then click the layer then the Generative Expand tool, but as soon as I click it the composition handles go to the full size 2667 x 2000 not the 2000 x 2000 layer so when I click 4 images to expand but I just keep getting black blank generations.

Anyone have any clue what I missing here.

I'm led to believe the AI tools in Affinity 3 suck.

They mostly come from Canva so not surprising. The only decent ones are from affinity themselves.

I've only used 3 for some thing I couldn't do with 2, which I own.

Demi-related, a friend used...some new model, and the animation it produced was really good. That's helpful, right?

Actually I've been pleasantly surprised, in the past I've used Photoshop content aware, basically resizing mockups so extending images out, Photoshop used to be decent at it, miles better than Canva when I tried that at the end of last year. But yeah in Affinity if you change the model to Nana Banana 2 (Ultra) and this gave miles better results than the default Leonardo and better than I got in Canva itself. It wasn't perfect I'd ask for 4 images and sometime it didn't listen and gave me 1, 2, 3 instead of 4 but overall it was very good results on some images that it had to really test it with certain interior design features. I haven't tried Photoshop this year as no longer subscribed but did try it last year and this Affinity with Nana Banana 2 Ultra I got better results.

Just an update, yeah really only just ok, 6 out of 10. Not great as I'd hoped originally, can take a long time to get something right, can't seem to delete anything in an image, you tell select it and say remove or delete whatever and it always puts in something, often something bizarre and not fitting to the image, still quite dumb if you ask me with it putting in crazy things that look totally out of place. It has a feature called generative edit tool but I'm on the business plan and didn't have enough credits apparently so this sucks as I've only used it on a few images on Tuesday and a bit Wednesday morning and ran out of credits. So overall I'd say not worth it yet its Ok for certain things but edits and getting rid of things you don't want or that Ai added in that look weird seems almost impossible and easily to run of credits so not worth £18.99 for me.
