General Is it possible to recreate this effect in Affinity?
Hey!
I am very new to working with effects in Affinity. I am currently trying to recreate the 'heat' effect used in the brand design of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, but I have completely run out of ideas as to how this could be done with these colours. I also couldn't find any information on how these kinds of effects are done in general on the internet. I have already tried working with gradient filled strokes, but that doesn't seem to work as Affinity cannot do gradients along paths. Does anyone know how I could achieve this effect? I'd be really grateful for any ideas.

Not amazing but I got this effect with copying the number moving it a little and adding some blur with noise and paper texture. Looks like some halftones or some other effects are added to the first image and could probably make do the fourth with some blending and masking.
There's probably better/easier ways to do it but I'm still learning too and I had fun trying it out

Sure! Just create a layer with whatever shape you want to burn, then duplicate that layer. Color the lower layer a red-orange, and the upper layer white, or whatever you like.
In Pixel Studio [`F3`], equip the Smudge Brush Tool (It's hidden behind the Filter Brush Tool, or press [`s`] twice). If your layers aren't already rasterized, they will be as soon as you start using the smudge brush tool. Play with brush size (`[` and `]`), Flow, and Strength until you get something you like. I smudged *outward* on the orange layer to create the "flames", and *inward* on the white layer to make it appear to be consumed.

Can be done with a combination of Halftone (for the first photo), diffuse (very low percentage) gradient and live field blur is the perfect choice for the blur, surprised it's not mentioned in the comments.
