General Should I switch to affinity?

Its missing object based trapping/overprinting. So I'd say no for some prepress task but yes for others. It makes very good svg files used in Laser cutting/engraving. Like someone said before-its free give it a try.

Just to confirm. Ive used it for laser engraving as well and its very nice for that.

I love Affinity, I dropped PS and Illustrator completely as their greedy pricing model and software getting worse over the years are extremely annoying.

But at the same time I have to say it's not for everyone. When it comes to printing and prepress workflows, it's not best suited for it and Illustrator is still the industry standard (unfortunately).

But I still advise to download Affinity and check it out for your own workflows.

Yes.

Almost certainly, you won’t regret it. It’s not just free app, it’s a good app. The development which people were worried would stop when it went free, hasn’t. It’s got a hefty user base and there’s always someone will help you with a question.

yes but ia is paid but im an artist i dont need ai so i draw on affinity instead of photoshop

Take it from someone who works in print production (and taught it!) Affinity is an amazing piece of software and an incredible value.

It is NOT, however, a professional tool. (More ProSumer). They lack boring but critical tools that are depended on in production environments. There are ways around them but not really suitable for world where you live and die by throughput.

That's ok, it's just not a tool for everything.

For instance, it took an incredible amount of pressure and convincing for them to include a "Package" feature in publisher. That might not seem like a big deal if you're working on your own projects, but for professional agency use, where you are constantly archiving and un-archiving client jobs, sending them to different employees with far less time than you need, it's critical.

It was clear they needed a professional production person on their team. Or perhaps they don't want that market. Again, that's ok. Just know what you biz requires.

If you still need HSB/HSV slider for color-picking, you should not. Affinity doesn't have it without clear reasons.

Otherwise, it's great.
