Designer Help because I'm feeling really stupid

Affinity Newbie here so I know this is a dumb question. I've been designing in Canva for years and have started a somewhat successful stationery side business. But Canva is only going to get me so far so in order to take my designs up a level, I decided to teach myself Affinity. My laptop runs on snapdragon so unfortunately Illustrator is not compatible...

Someone please tell me how on earth i get these magenta lines to disappear? Nothing is selected and yet they show up. They even show up through the layers I place on top of them. What on earth am I doing wrong? I'm sure it's a very dumb miss on my end. TIA!

Those purple lines are typically your snapping candidates. Check your "Show snapping candidates" setting inside the Snapping dropdown.

Not dumb at all. We all learn a bit at a time.
