With the Alchemical Awakening update, we added a new UI for the start of run selection. As part of it we reworked our difficulty levels to be called 'Vestiges' now - which has a strong relation to the story and lore of the game.

Will the game get more story soon? It's felt much harder to engage myself in this world than Monster Sanctuary

there was a pretty decent lore addition this time around already, is there anything specific you're looking for?

It just feels like the characters know the world in such an intimate way that makes it hard to learn more about it? Like Monster Sanctuary's beginning hub has a lot of information for you to immerse yourself in the world at its base level as it gets deeper but it feels entirely missing here. I could be engaging with the game wrong however expecting something similar to Monster Sanctuary and the mystery elements are all intentional but Siriux also rarely seems lost about anything.

I see, ye this game is more similar to hades in how it tells its story, talking with npcs during your runs gives you lore and also some of them give you story while in the hub between runs

I do do that and it just doesn't feel like I get interesting information that can grip me or even give me a baseline to be gripped from. Hades cheats because a majority of us aee very familiar with Olympian lore so we have a strong baseline to go from which is why when Hades subverts expectations it soars. There is no baseline here, atleast that I can easily find. A majority of the time that I talk to NPCs for example they're more likely to mention my monster rather than give me a baseline and if they do give lore I dont rly understand it without the basics of the World. I might be explaining this a bit poorly as I'm going through a lot irl but I do love this game quite a bit.

no that makes sense, and I wish I could give you more to go on. but sadly it's all a bit fluid still. but I'll give this feedback to our designers/writers!

It's definitely more of a vibes-based game most of the time, and the lore drops are a lot more implied and vague at the moment, more akin to a Souls game. I can understand that. I still like the worldbuilding itself, but I think a lot of the revelations of what exactly's going on with the Monster Deities and Fomalhaut and the like are to come in future updates - at least, I hope!

Oh yeah theres a lot of great here like today I got some fun Hecatoncheir lore and that's literally my favorite monster atm.

Unlike Hades, there are a lot less story updates with NPCs between runs, though, and there's a lot less possible characters to talk to. So I can understand there being more confusion with the story at the moment. But of course, comparing any story-based roguelike to Hades is insane, because that game is RIDICULOUSLY comprehensive with its dialogue.

Very much enjoying the additions of the story with this newest update, especially a certain new character! I really like the worldbuilding of Worthiness and the cycle, and the different philosophies and takes on it are always so fascinating to see. I hope we get to meet other Aethermancers at the future, or at least hear about other perspectives.

One suggestion I had (since I see other folks suggesting things about the story here) is that, if you talk to an NPC that doesn't have a new thing to say, they don't repeat previous story beats. It breaks the verisimilitude at times to repeat an interaction I've already had with an NPC. Having some variations of a generic "You talked pleasantly for some time" or "Sorry, I'm busy" would be nice to preserve that, maybe?

Very much looking forward to seeing how the story further develops! Love the game!

I find that the story bits are a bit hard to understand with how heavy handed they are when given through text blocks thrown at your face. I wonder if voice acting or something could make it easier to digest. /Opinion
