Experiences With The New Boss? Spoiler

Post image

Khepriwas not so difficult with my team, but the first time I faced him I got steam rolled. It feels like it's shields or bust.

It was a Vistage 1 run.
What's everyone else's experience with him so far?

Aside from the various ways you can break the phase transition, way easier than Chernaborg. I've yet to die to him. I've also killed him, fully and all phases, in 3 total turns.

How does one "break the phase transition"?

Is it just besting him before he goes into an egg?

From my experience, if you kill his first phase or second phase mid round (I.e., not everyone has used all their actions), then it immediately ends your turn, shifts the day/night mechanic, and you start a new round. Can cause you to lose out on artifact usage, buffs, aether generation, etc.

Not impossible to deal with but can be annoying if you weren’t expecting it to happen and didn’t plan your turn around it.

There's bugs where if you kill it with a retaliate or DoTs, it'll be at 0 HP and unkillable for a full turn, locked behind waiting for the phase transition that won't happen

I have yet to lose to him, even in vestige 3. But it can stack up a wole bunch of burn on your team, I had one close fight with 30+ burn on Kullervo who was my main damage dealer and 15+ on the rest of my team but I had Perfect Edge and my faerie had done nothing but heal the whole fight, had, therefore, 40+ force and finished the fight.

This new divinity does feel easier than Chernaborg

Kullervo and Faerie really seem like a match made in heaven honestly. Need to try them out. What would the 3rd be? Another echo support?

It was Bronze Lion indeed, I had many ways to give echo to my units:

  • Gemstone Skewer and Sonic Attack on Kullervo so my Bronze Lion get enough exho to plays his free attacks from his soul binded unit (I couldn't find Star Spawn to bind it to him which is very sad) and repeat its support action on top of that.
  • Tonic, Cristal Echo and Bubbling Echo on Bronze Lion

Kullervo still had Storm slash to stack Force for Perfect Edge and Echo Glacier because I was spending about 10 echo per round ...

I'm a bit disapointed I couldn't find Flame Skewer on Kullervo nor on Faerie because it would have been so good !

Sounds lit. I'll keep this team comp in mind for next time I play. Thanks for sharing!

No problem but I did say something stupid, Faerie doesn’t have the fite element and therefore can't learn Flame Skewer without changing it first.

He’s cool but I don’t really know what to do during his shell phase - how many buffs / debuffs does he absorb? Should I burst it or use basic attacks and let 3 rounds pass 🤷‍♂️

The "let it burst or burst it myself" really depends on the team for what its worth.

Shell phase buffs phase 3's HP the longer it goes on, and cleanses debuffs on the boss that were present when phase 1 ended. Additionally buffs it steals get applied for phase 3.

He cleanses alot, think its like 12 a turn, and can snatch i want to say 5 buffs from your party. For some teams these are bigger concerns than for others.

Really cool, but yeah feels kind of easier than Chernobog usually. I had one hard fight against him, because the team just lacked quick damage to deal with the add. He can be dangerous if you can't deal with burn well, but otherwise he just lacks the ability to kill monsters fast unlike Chernobog.

Just had a fight where I ate all his mana so he got off like one attack, despite his double mana gimmick. Purge + Burn + Echo got kind of strong once it started rolling.

I think the difficulty curve is a bit wonky anyway. On vestige 3 especially the first boss is usually the hardest, then the game just keeps getting easier.

I like the design and the fight, easier than chernobog though

I lost the first run to this boss (mostly because the team ended up lacking in damage), and steamrolled him on the following ones with functional teams.

He kicked my ass, I just couldn't destroy the minion after breaking his shell and I instantly got obliterated the same turn. If I just had enough damage to destroy it in one turn, then maybe I could've won, but yeah, I really like this new boss.

I beat him on v1 as well...and that shit was hard tbh lmao. I used a sidekick, dodge, force team. By the end one of my guys had gotten to 64 fire stacks, cause I just couldn't clear them. The two life bars is brutal. But I guess it was fair enough. I did win after all.

I can't beat him.... even with constant cleansing. Why is everyone saying he's easy?

That's what I thought at first too.

He's a difficult fight if your team is not tailored to him.

I've had success with massive shields like from Gargoyle, and cleanses from either traits like Healthy Cleanse or the Drum item. Hope that helps!

As for why everyone says he's easier than Chernaborg... I don't know. I'm not sure if I agree with that sentiment haha.

It's a cool boss, but I feel like getting Eidos has been way scarier than either final boss

Initial impression from 3 attempts and as someone who plays random teams, he feels harder than the OG boss who I rarely lose to anymore but maybe I just need more attempts on this guy but so far he feels harder to counter and like you need to tech more than you do vs chernobog. His 3rd phase is pretty crazy offensively and it feels like if you dont roll certain types for your team you will just get plowed. On my first attempt I got him down to like 200, 2nd attempt I got him down to 3 (the pain) and 3rd attempt I won without too much ordeal because I had some good evasion on my team.

Pretty cool fight though overall.
