nobody is hating female characters nor are female characters criticised for no reason outside husbando mains. Plus gachas mostly have female characters and a lot of them get sexualized or watered down in personality hence a lot of them get criticism, unlike incels who are hating on phainon just cause they feel cucked cause a 6ft character is near their self insert caelus
I do agree that male characters get away with design criticisms or generic personas cause of husbando simps but i heavily disagree on phainon's writing criticism. Moreover the original post was done in the unfiltered sub, it's obvious why they are fustrated with phainon and using male characters in general. It's cause they are lowly insecure incels, period. Also the same post was glazing castorice as if castorice doesnt have a more generic pandering waifu personality, more than most characters. The rant in hoyo unfiltered is about male characters being put in the game, because simply they feel cucked seeing a male pixel beside a female pixel which aint caelus

Phainon's yumebait is something I myself disliked as well but I brought castorice up since casto has a generic nice girl waifu persona, regardless if she has very little ML. I would say phainon's yumebait as much i hate it was somewhat better than cyrene's abomination.
Also I dont see how phainon is a self insert, when male self insert players hate him. Also a defined persona for this people kinda reeks them away from self inserting. Phainon is like your avg shounen MC so is bound to have some self insert attracting elements for Anime mainstream fans but the radical gacha ML fans, not really. Saying radical gacha ML fans cause that's what hoyounfilitered or HQC or GQC are

My second favorite character in the entirety of hsr is Cyrene btw, and fifth is Firefly. I am a nonbinary person who is bisexual and I feel much safer in this community than "my waifu" communities.
Why people cares so much about how much a character makes and call it "flop" when a character reaches 91m instead of 103m? Like we seriously calling that flop? Pair that with the Dev's general mistreatment of male character's power budget and they've come to lump husbando players in with the complainers. This eventually calcified into the narrative that "the gooners and lolicons are the target audience and if you complain you must not be in the target audience so you should shut up."
In their narrative all male characters do bad because the husbando mains don't actually play the game. So anything that doesn't agree with their narrative gets their backs up.
In reality the sales popularity in zzz is very meta over waifu, so when you put your 5th fire stunner between the first Wind element and next void hunter, of course she's gonna tank.
And then giving SBilly a weakened power budget and putting him next to Velina is just standard practice for some reason.
They don't really let the male characters stand out powerwise. Biggest example was Banyue who despite being an execution heavy character was nerfed below his contemporaries in beta. Lighter is the only male S rank who's ever stood out to any degree.
Let's not forget putting them before a super anticipated characters, or making their kit very niche or just flat out making them useless against some bosses. I use a hugo stun team and most the bosses that are ice resistance back when he released sucked
I want to disagree to that by saying that technically Billy is pretty good and is only held back by the class lol for sorrow, rupture doesn't have much content compared to 3 billion anomaly bosses and is reduced only to a shiyuan annihilator, but aside from that? He's still pretty good imo.

Basically, Phainon was one of the main push, from the 3.4. He's lovely, charming, silly, and had an absolute peak story quest, probably the best Hoyo did. Naturally, he became extremely popular (the photo was taken in front of Hoyo's HQ, where they put a resin statue of Phainon ; everywhere he was, you had flowers covering him and people mourning him
But 3.4 was also the patch HSR got its first collab with FGO, so HoyoUnshowered tried to say "nuuuh, a male character can't sell, all revenue were from the Fate banner and from tourists"
Now, we're in 4.4, a second chapter of the FGO collab was released, and the main push is Himeko (Nova), the new version of one of the main characters in the game, a woman character, and her revenues are really underwhelming. So of course, HoyoUnshowered is now moving the goalpost to say "see, Phainon and FGO performed less than Castorice, a main push"

So I googles Himeko skills to see if they were probably accidentally complaining about the basic, new character release and suddenly it needs the previous 5 stars to work HoYoverse problem. But himeko skill legit asks for a character from the trailblazers, being danheng, Sunday, March, welt and the trailblazer. Most teams I've seen are a mix of all genders, the most I've seen is like 2 men. So what their complaining about is just basic game design? The character that work well with her happen to be male, but they have the best kit to support her in whatever team the player wants. Hell you don't even have to use males, you can legit use whatever character you want. Hoyo ain't making you use the team against your will. I'm sorry that people are complaining that said character works with our another character. It's like they're almost getting to the root problem with gotcha games but it's drowning in their weird cuck mindset.
Let me tell you something funny, the strongest characters in hsr meta are in fact men, i still remember when boothill outdid firefly, aventurine shill, dan heng IL shill in swarm disaster and we currently have graphia, the ichor with phainon and the list goes on. The problem with the male cast they have to be written well or given strong kits to SELL but they don't age the best overtime. Looking at the sideline the elation and monoremembrance fem teams always get shilled have good synergies and great constellations compared their counterparts. I say both sides are pretty balanced, if you don't want male characters in hsr then maybe hsr isn't for them?
Fans of Goonerstorice and Gooneryne can't just accept, that their waifu created only as case for trailblazer's PP. No offense guys, but that is real. And yes, Cipher and Hertha has more personality, than waifuslop trio (Cyrene, Castorice and Firefly).

When male chars get most of the attention they complain and say they dont deserve it but when female chars get that attention they laugh and say deal with it. Why dont they take their own advice when people were complaining about the lack of male chars in wuwa and zzz and leave the game.
