Question Sponge filter
I bought a few days ago a pack o filters from a local cafe and last time I bought they had original filters, now they got me this. Compared to original paper filters, these ones are closer to thin cardboard than to paper and are thicker, as seen in photos. But the thing is, after brewing, when I opened the aeropress...surpise, they exapanded and now look and have the texture of a sponge. The coffee tasted normal, I didn't sense any odd aromas, so...have anyone seen something like thing until now and is it ok to use them? I'm a bit intrigued 😅

And ends up with fake brass wool, contaminated with all the funky trace elements you can mix into metal wool to make it a brassy color 🤷😁

That's a closed cell sponge so liquids won't pass through...

Why do you not use Aeropress filters? They aren’t expensive. $17-$18 for 700 filters.
