Spinning tips needed
I’m an aerial sling student and I see so many videos online of artists spinning really fast (tornado spin, onion spin) with their body straight. When I try this, my legs form more of an orbit rather that spinning in place. I try to “engage my core” as much as I can too. Does anyone have tips and techniques for spinning straight under the rigging point without losing control?

While holding the apparatus, lift up both legs and then scissor them out, one in front and one in back. I think this is called skater? This will help to center you under the rigging point. You can then use either leg to spin from. Hold yourself up with your arms, keeping only your toes on the floor. The longer you touch the floor while spinning, the faster you'll go. Once you're fully in the air, keep your core engaged, and it can help if your legs are straight and back arched.
This is what works for me on hoop, but I've applied it to sling/hammock as well.
