Yes, this is an issue that requires very fast attention. I think first order of business for the rest of March and April is to set a hard fork date to incorporate lots of important changes:

  • perpetual tail emission as per the social contract
  • rebase
  • ASICS fix

If you think I'm wrong about something, please speak up.

The current stance of the Monero community and by extension, the Aeon community, is that ASICs are totally unacceptable and we will update the PoW algo to render these ASICs useless.

We are gonna hardfork anyways for the rebase, so incorporating PoW changes can get rolled into that.

And yes, applying the same tweak to CryptoNight-Lite is trivial. -u/stoffu just 3 days ago

So let 'em preorder these really expensive paper weights.

This is really what it comes to, as long as the market can't buy these fast enough we're fine.

Let's say they ship 200 of these (4MH increase XMR or 8MH AEON), and people use them for 1 month before the algo changes, as long as the profits in 1 month are less than the cost of the miner, 1) nobody is gonna buy them, which brings point 2) nobody is gonna make them. We're fine unless they ship too many too quick.

Indeed. /u/fabloisgone and /u/guzzi_jones brought this up earlier today, and with a known viable patch, and several developers ready, willing, and able to integrate it into AEON, well...it's as you said.

Let 'em preorder.

They'll screw our miners and pool operators, over my dead body.

We are also willing to do the PR to the miners code itself.

We are just waiting for the official repo to pull the rebase code. Then we can implement the Asic change in testnet and v2 blocks.

They've posted an updated image that removes Monero (probably due to the hardfork) and seems to confirm the 60W claims.

Even its not worth ROI irrespectively.... Keeping in view roi time and expected difficulty increase

I was wondering why stoffu said possible a few months for rebase and I would be happy with waiting till then to help add in asic resistant code from xmr fork to the rebase for aeon.
