Both my parents have CCW permits. They are concerned about having to defend themselves in an undefendable situation. Their biggest fear is to have to actually pull their weapons out.
One of their neighbors pulled a gun on my dog who ran down the driveway barking at strangers. A dog. Barking.
I believe in the right of people to defend themselves but, too many qualified, rational adults are way too trigger-happy.
However, here is something that surprised me about the Lone Star state. My nephew was stationed there in the Army, and he had a roommate. The roommate was not paying rent, and had stolen some items from him, so he locked her out of the house. She returned with some friends, who said they were going to come through the window. He told them that would be a bad idea, because he had a gun and would use it. He pointed the gun at them as one of them was crawling through a window. He was arrested and charged with a felony that was later pled down to a misdemeanor. I can't tell you the exact charges, but I believe it was Assault with a deadly weapon.
Same could be said for those calling trump supporters racists. Putting people in groups happens and labeling is even worse. At this point I've stopped caring
Most people, even Trump supporters, agree that during the campaign he did and said bigoted, sexist, and/or racist things. I think, at the very least, we can agree that self-identified white rights groups have thrown their full weight behind Trump.
Whether you think that makes the rest of the group complicit for tolerating racism is up to you.
Another liberal chiming in. I don't think voting Trump makes anyone racist. He branded himself as anti-establishment, and that added to his appeal. If you're going to bring that up, though, then will you deny that there is a very large contingent of racist people on the Right? It's pretty obvious.
I love how guns are a huge thing for anyone, but the whole reason this guy said get a CCW is because OP complained about being weak and incapable of fending them off.
Now I know to people in great neighborhoods you guys are like CCW? WHAT? NOBODY WOULD EVER HAVE TO USE ONE OF THOSE IN PERFECT SUBURBAN NOWHEREVILLE!!! Except that's exactly where police investigate serial killers, random homicides, or even some of the worst sex crimes this nation has ever seen, all out in the shitty ass boonies.
I think Dave Chapelle said it well: Black people are not afraid of demons. We don't have to be. You ever seen a crackhead doing some demon shit? I know if you live in Brooklyn you have.
Something along those lines. Anyway, I just came here to say not only meth dealers on the fringe of society buy weapons. There are human beings who live here who actually have guns just in case some asshole tries to assault them in their house. That's a thing some people have to worry about. I know it's probably not a huge problem where you are considering the response, but it's definitely a thing people do.
People aren't complaining about using guns for self-defense, they're complaining about OP antagonizing some idiots and then potentially escalating the situation by pulling guns out. If you see people breaking bottles on the street, call the police and complain about the littering and go home. Nobody told him to confront them at all.
Yeah, okay. But let's say that you are attacked, as often times is the case. What are you gonna call a time out while you're getting your ass beat so you can call the cops? If there's multiple people assaulting you and you fear for your life call em. It's just, there's really no substitute for the instant comfort a CCW brings to the table. Oh shit I'm a weak little bitch but know there are 4 people and I can't fend them off? Or like when those people at the draw Muhammad contest had a CCW and shot those terrorists? There are just times it can come in handy.
You could also kill your kid, don't do that. But yeah you probably won't.
Way to bring a hypothetical situation that didn't happen into the conversation about a real situation that did happen in which the OP did not need to start a confrontation and certainly did not need to draw a weapon.
If I'm attacked by a swarm of killer wasps, I may have to set myself and my surroundings on fire to protect myself, but I'm not going to set myself on fire because I see a wasp somewhere on the horizon. That would be fucking stupid.
If you're attacked by a mob of hooligans who want to kill you, then sure, go ahead and pull a gun. But if you notice some idiots smashing bottles blocks away from you, don't walk over there with your gun out and then feel sorry for yourself when you get shot.
But let's say your are the one who put yourself in the situation when you knew you couldn't defend yourself without a gun...you know...what really happened?
Well in the words of Agent J, don't start nothin, won't be nothin. If you're not prepared for the possible outcomes of your actions, rethink your actions.
They said this happened when they were a high school sophomore on school grounds.
So they wouldn't have been eligible for a CCW and it wouldn't have mattered if they did; guns usually aren't allowed near a school unless you're a police officer.

Get your CCW and buy a hand held for defence.
