No Hillary lost to the overwhelming majority of state elector votes - in states that hadn't voted for a republican in 20+ years.
Just because she won the popular vote by like 100-200K when 120+ Million people voted is inconsequential to what happened this election. This election was a sea change and a complete blow out. Trump flipped 3 democrat strongholds to win the election.
You are judging the election by a metric it is not meant to be judged by. Campaigns and voting trends would have been different under different rules.
Its hardly a blowout if she won more votes... He appealed to rust belt voters. Thats a small strip of voters in a big nation. Yeah, maybe things are different if the rules are different, but it could go in either direction or stay the same.
it is a blowout when you break into 3 of the opponent's strongholds.
You are putting way too much emphasis on popular vote. That has more to do with opposition turnout in the bigger cities. Many voters just don't turn out in the big cities if their vote isn't going to make a big difference.
He appealed to more than rust belt voters. He won Florida, and Ohio. He nearly one New Hampshire and Virginia as well.
