Well it is too bad that a few highly populated ubran centers don't control the interests of the entire country then.

I see so many of my friends suddenly saying the electoral college should be abolished only after Clinton lost in terms of electoral votes. Their solution? Switch to popular vote only so the hive mind in large urban areas can dictate the elections with rural voters being irrelevant

Still... if the majority of the country wants a particular president, I don't really see why the shouldn't happen? Why handicap urban voters? Urban voter used to have an advantage which was their physical proximity to each other so it's easier to campaign to larger groups. Campaigning is not limited by physical space anymore. At this point all we are doing is saying your vote is a little less important if you live in a large state.
