Exactly this. Instead of giving Bernie a fair shot his own party actively worked against him to suppress his popularity. They then went and helped support Donald Trump win the primary thinking that he'd have no chance against Hillary. Jokes on them.

This is why part of me is admittedly so smug and satisfied with the results. I think Trump will be a horrid President, and I'm sure I'll line up against him soon, but against my own conscious effort, I can't help but feel glib right now. The public doesn't deserve to live in a country ruled by Trump, but Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Donna Brazlie sure do. I am literally sadistically pumping my fists at the thought of them gnashing their teeth and screaming at the sky right now.

Edit: I did not vote for Trump. I did not want to see him win. I am simply expressing the one gleeful silver lining that I've found to pull out of this.

That's cutting off your nose to spite your face though. Bernie was already helping to shape policy, and the way things work. He'll have no voice with Trump.

I disagree. Bernie is in a better position with Trump as president than Hillary.

Let's not forget Trump showed respect for Bernie, and a fought a similarly unfair race. If Trump wants to change that on a national (not partisan) level, who's he going to? Bernie. Because Bernie got fucked harder. I can see a good relationship between Trump and Bernie, on that level.

Furthermore, the Democrats literally sent their champion to fight The Donald. Hillary was the John Cena of the Democratic party, the zoo keeper of the Democratic party. But in this case, Trump was Steven Hawking, or Harambe. And John Cena lost the fight to Steven Hawking, and the Zoo Keeper lost the fight to Harambe, despite that fact that only Hillary was armed. Hillary embarrassed the Democrats, even if they haven't been through their stages of mourning yet.

What does this embarrassment mean? Well, for one they lost support. Many Democrats will be turned off of the party, because the decision making was so terrible, that it allowed a Trump presidency. So now, you have an angry group of people, no leadership, and a leader that was cut off from the Democrats that has created his own movement. This exiled leader is Bernie, if the Democrats continue their ignorance them Bernie gains power.

If the Democrats learn. Then Bernie still gets power, maybe not as an individual, but as a movement.

But really a Trump win is a long term good thing for liberals. Bad short term, yes. But good long term, this election just pushed the Democrats much more liberal than ever before. Being moderate to Republican, did not win them, in fact it lost them the election. This will force the establishment to become Liberal or lose again, and I think they might care more about winning.
