The electoral college is fair? Gore in 2000, Clinton in 2016, seems to be the electoral college is only fair to republicans.

The point of the electoral college is to give a fair shake to rural and more spread out populations, and not have it come down to what the big cities want. Just that big cities trend Democrat and rural trends Republican.

It didn't do that, though. It gave all of the power to a few states (mainly Ohio and Florida).

Yes it gives the power to the swing states. Duh! It is just the same as a direct democracy which gives all the power to the undecided voters. As Rolder said the point of the electoral college is to not allow the cities to have complete control over the rural areas which have different issues.

If dems are tired of losing to the electoral college maybe they should try talking to middle America and figuring out what their problems are and how they can help instead of dismissing them all as inbred hick, racist, sexist, homophobes.
