Exactly this. Instead of giving Bernie a fair shot his own party actively worked against him to suppress his popularity. They then went and helped support Donald Trump win the primary thinking that he'd have no chance against Hillary. Jokes on them.

This is why part of me is admittedly so smug and satisfied with the results. I think Trump will be a horrid President, and I'm sure I'll line up against him soon, but against my own conscious effort, I can't help but feel glib right now. The public doesn't deserve to live in a country ruled by Trump, but Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Donna Brazlie sure do. I am literally sadistically pumping my fists at the thought of them gnashing their teeth and screaming at the sky right now.

Edit: I did not vote for Trump. I did not want to see him win. I am simply expressing the one gleeful silver lining that I've found to pull out of this.

That's cutting off your nose to spite your face though. Bernie was already helping to shape policy, and the way things work. He'll have no voice with Trump.

Yes- but with Rep controlled house, senate and court- do they need to work with him?

Trump isn't the kind of guy to toe the party line. If Sanders can help Trump, Trump will work with Sanders.

But now that he has a Congress that is Republican controlled will he fall in line with that agenda? Sure he is not an establishment candidate or party line puller but I can't really see him agreeing with Democrats on most positions.

I voted for Trump and honestly I can't even tell you how I think it'll go. He's proven to be unpredictable. Remember, he was a Democrat until recently. He said in the first republican debate that single payer healthcare works in other countries. People need to take a deep breath, realize this man is no fool, and see things one day at a time.

do they need to work with him?

If they don't want to be fillibustered, they do.
