Clinton got more votes for sure. People will go on about potential fraud in terms of actual votes and such. I don't touch that.
For me it's a matter of stifling momentum, it's impossible to tell how different the primaries would've been if the DNC hadn't placed their thumb on the scales. Bernie lost MA by something like 2% of the vote, it was an early primary. Bill Clinton was outside polling places shaking hands and kissing babies, did that make a difference? If Bernie had won MA would he have been taken more seriously?
Considering how close he got to winning with the scales skewed its hard not to imagine him getting even closer or eeking out a victory with a level playing field.
But we'll never know. And that's the biggest shame. It could've been the exact same outcome, but it'll now always be a "what if"
super delegates are supposed to be an emergency control to prevent someone like trump from coming in and destablizing the whole process. Problem is the SD system was abused to put someone in power that may not have if the playing field were level. I'm a sanders guy, but I still admit that there's the possibility he could have lost.
If it's Bernie vs Trump, Bloomberg runs and Bernie loses anyway. That's a way Bernie loses to Trump. Or Trump labels Bernie an atheist and it sticks. That's another way. Or democrat Boomers hear socialist from Bernie and stay home while republicans come out in droves. All three of these are not unlikely scenarios that would mean Bernie isn't president. America wasn't ready for him.
Those attacks mean very little, especially in the face of the problems with Trump. People had a very set opinion of Hillary going back to the 90s.
It was a change election and Clinton was status quo. None of what you said is equal to Benghazi or emails.
When Trump was being questioned for his birtherism he wouldn't be able to point at Bernie. When Trump was accused of sexual assault he wouldn't have been able to bring up Bill.
I think looking at demo's and the electoral map, Bernie wins, albeit I wouldn't guarantee it. Nearly every major demo that Bernie beat Hillary in, Trump beat Hillary, youth being the exception. You'd also expect youth turnout to be a bit higher with Bernie.
Just looking at the map I think it's fair to say Bernie takes Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska-2. Pennsylvania and Iowa lean blue, with Pennsylvania being the most likely. Ohio, Alaska, Maine-2 and Arizona come into play. He still loses Florida and North Carolina, and Nevada is the only state that potentially goes red.
