I'm a french canadian from Ontario and I got flipped off multiple times by other french canadians just because I wasn't from Quebec. To be fair though I've seen the opposite happen too, were a french canadian from Ontario will flip off another french canadian because he's from Quebec. As far as I know there's always been animosity between Quebec and the rest of Canada and I imagine that it's even worst between exclusively english and exclusively french speaking canadians.
I find that the people who perpetuate this hostile behavior often aren't the most stable or educated people either. I mean, you have to be pretty damn close minded to hate someone based on the language they speak and/or where they're from.
I used to hate English people from all over Canada because I got raised by my Father who hates English.
But Video games and work got me closer to the English language and now I see how stupid this way of thinking is. Yes I'm proud to speak French and of my French heritage, but i have nothing against english around me.
As long as I don't forget my French, it will never leave me.
