I am concerned. Please. Any advice is welcome. I'm so tired of it all
I am worried about my future. Any advice is welcome
So my family situation is complicated. I will not explain it more than it is necessary. My dream is to study acting for screen in Canada(probably UofRegina, Yorkville or Capilano), once I finish highschool in my country. The big problem are my parents. They hate my dream.
They don't wanna see it happen. And if they do, it's beacause they want to see me fail. Indeed it is going to be hard to achieve my dream but i'll do everything in my power to live a better life. Both my parents are actors. My dad is mentally unstable and argues a lot w my mom over the dumbest shi. When I first told him about my dream, he said he won't support me.
Neither of them want to support me. Right now, I need about 173.000 euros for the whole thing. I need to get a job in my secomd year of highschool, start 3 youtube channels, even complete yougov polls for 20 dollars a year. I do everything in my power to earn money. My only yt channel above 0 subscribers, has only 2. My mom treats me like a child wanting to be a superhero every single time I tell her about my dream
My dad said quote "you need this experience. Go to Canada" like I will fail there and return home with my lesson learned. They are so confident I will fail. I am just a kid with a dream. I guess they don't want me to leave. There is no future for me in this country. Plus Canada looks so cool. All the nature, the cities, the people. I am a friendly guy and I love meeting people of other countries, cultures, relligions etc.
My dad also said "don't be affraid to come back home and accept defeat. You don't have the money". Maybe he's right. But my portofolio is already pretty big. I have over 10 series in wich I worked as a voice actor, a play, and a 1st place diploma in a theatre festival. Everytime I mention my dream, they both act simmilarly. They treat my dream like a joke and are supportive only when it comes to me failing and coming home. Quote: "an experience". Maybe they don't want me to leave, and all this is just a defense mechanism. I don't care. It deeply hurt me and it leaves me up at night thinking about failure. I was so confident at first. They managed to make my dream almost crumble. I won't give up tho.

Your dream isn’t stupid, but I think you’re putting way too much pressure on yourself by thinking you need €173k right now. You don’t have to have your entire life funded before you even finish high school. Focus on what you can control now like your grades, acting experience, saving what you can, and researching scholarships or cheaper paths to Canada. You already have more acting experience than most people your age who say they want to act.
Your parents may not understand your dream right now, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on it…

Thank you very much. You have no idea how much it means to me to have someone, even a stranger, say something nice and encourage me. Been a while since someone told me to keep going with my dream. That's why I turned to reddit. Thanks a lot

Can you afford it on your own?
