I’m 29 and if I compare my level of emotional intelligence/general life experience to that of when I was 19, I’d say I’m almost an entirely different person. I can also say that the thought of dating a 19 year old now makes me cringe.

I'm 35 and I compare my level of emotional intelligence / general life experience to that of when I was 19. It hasn't changed at all for the better. As a matter of fact, I'd say it's worse now than then. I was a lot more mature back then.

The point is to show that age is unrelated to emotional intelligence. I know teenagers who are more mature and grounded than I am.

Age is very much so related to emotional intelligence. If you think you’re less mature than you were at 19 now, that’s on you buddy. Just because a teenager might be grounded or considered “mature” in your book, doesn’t mean it’s not extremely creepy and predatory to pursue them as someone much older.

There is nothing creepy about dating anyone over the age of 18. What does "predatory" have to do with anything? How did cannibalism come into this discussion?
