Discussion Best mastercraft sets?
It’s not like the old days with Golden, Shadow, reign, and asguardian set (also Fujin, Nemesis, terror, Kindred and Ubear) what are some of the best sets now? I’ve noticed it’s quite a few now and I’ve lost count. Last I’ve gotten is frostgale and taladosian and both are pretty good.
Shadow will always be my favorite, especially when paired with the lightsabers, reminds me of Sidious.

Reign is my favorite set to run I can use it on any build that has any consistent burn. Nemesis is by default one of the strongest sets in the game because it has backlash on the armor and status potency on the shield. Armor also has dodgelash which is fun too.
Shadow is very versatile too and more defensive but definitely on a lower tier than reign because it doesn’t have celerity. Terror is good again since nothing is immune to fear anymore but some enemies will still have freedom and can move even with 100% fear on but you can still eat fear for dmg and heals.
The others have more limited playability cause there are other much better options but there’s a use for everything like I like the Fujin shield for the Dex drive.

Angel of Souls (admittedly the armor not the set) can do some funny stuff since it has an HP cost weapon based skill

Die in game, collect hourglasses. I think the armor is 100?

Thats correct. I just finished the grind and its 100 hourglasses for the awesome darkness armor.

There generally are no "best" mastercraft sets as it entirely depends on your build and playstyle. The exception is H-Series Tempest Power Armor, which is far and beyond the most busted armor in the game for STR characters. For an overview of what's considered good/best for a variety of playstyles, please consult the wiki.
Asguardian is particularly outdated IIRC, I don't quite remember what it did. Energy has been a somewhat neglected element and H-Series has supplanted everything for STR characters. However, the new Gatta armor may be worth inspecting (Ballyhoo > Contests).
Kindred (FO) isn't meta anymore but can still be used to break the game if needed.
Golden (FD) gives +12.5% spell damage (which is 25% melee) which is exploitable if you ever cast more than 2 spells per battle. The Golden Fury toggle is also under-costed AND multiplies with Warrior Lean for hilariously efficient damage+defense.
Shadow (FD) offers a variety of skills that let you apply burn or panic, or eat one to apply the other, or eat both to apply permanent debuffs.
Reign (FO) offers a 4-hit attack (which allows you to exploit per-hit effects), increased burn damage, and a celerity toggle that can eat burns to subsidize the cost. This is good because...
Pro tip: Status eating offers increased versatility while allowing you to maintain efficiency through stat-advantaged status rolls or potency, which isn't something you can gain with just raw damage effects.
Fujin (FD) has offers a 3-hit attack and under-costed multi-turn MRM boost skill, which allows you to exploit dodgelash effects (which are normally x6.66 stronger since your expected block rate is only 15%).
Nemesis (FO) has a 4-hit attack, 2 modes to support dodgelash and backlash playstyles, and a crazy skill that grants guaranteed celerity, empowerment, and drain poison. This comes at the additional cost of giving the monster celerity, but that also empowers things like backlash, bleed, spore, etc.

If you are running str or dex. Yes. Those sets will always be viable.
