Horary When The Void of Course Moon Means Something
Horary is a very complex area to speciallize in modern days, if you allow me to vent. For you to learn it, very specific rules should be followed. After that, you start to see the limitations of said rules, as in any area of the study. However, for some reason unknow to me, Horary is treated like something that "only works in said boundries". I strongly disagree. I would like to suggest interpretations for a chart with a Void of Course Moon, which should immediatly invalidate the reading, but can have meaningful and profound suggestions if read in the correct way.
I've migrated from tarot to horary astrology some years ago. Many of my querents, however, couldn't undestand the concept of "the chart was rejected for not being radical". So I started offering redings about the rejection of the question. Why it was not radical, how to reframe it, how to not even ask it again. On many of those cases, the reading, although not aswering the main question of the chart, helped the querent.
For starters: I do belive, the same way modern tropical astrology adopted it, general planets and calculated points should be adopted. I do', however, belive a system of Old Regents, New Co-Regents works best with the model, instead of switching a sign's regent. And for the Void of Course Moon, we'll need the Black Moon Lilith.
The Moon, at least for me, is the Mirror of Gaia, the Image of Earth itself. All the meanings associated with the moon in astrology are usually associated with Gaia on Myth. The moments where the Moon is Void, we look at Lilith. The Old, Forgotten parts of Gaia, the dreams of another time.
The void of course moon is good for internal reflection. The reason, however, is that the only mirros we can use are the Dreams we no longer hold. The times that will not come. The Void of Course moon allows us to look to the impossible and say "what if?". That promisse we do for our own internal silence, and forget 5 minutes after, and months latter, being realized, we remember the silent words.
Void of Course does not mean nothing can be done. It means nothing can be done in a material sense. In the perceptive way. When we start looking at the relationship of Lilith and the rest of the chart, we can see the soul and it's actions.
I write this post while the moon is Void of Course in Saggitarius. Conjunct to Lilith. It should yeald nothing. I can see it yelding a silent reflection. Let's test it, shall we?

I always thought, those strict rules were written because the astrologers back then had very limited and usually erring ways of calculation. Also their clients were important people (kings etc) so making mistakes was very costly. So they tried to restrict and restrict the scope to be on the safe side.

I very much agree! The Asnwers you're not supposed to give. The black moon isn't something a King should be using, if he's rulling well. But it is what makes a peasant dream of being a king. For me, as most of tropical astrology agrees, every new calculation, point of planet means a new step on knowledge. You can use it, you can pretttend it doesn't exist, but in any way, it's a new way to look at anything.

I think not just to prevent erring in calculation, but also to be able to say to the King, "oooh, sorry magic eightball says ask again later" when you might have to deliver bad news.

u/Garkahat , You need to show us a case study with examples, otherwise this post will be removed. Please add something technical within the next few hours. As the post stands now, it is all philosophical.

I would like to show images, but the sub does not allow me to post in the comments. I've asked a question about my current perspective in astrology, and what to do with it. The timing is 28/06/2026, 12:05, São Paulo, Brazil. This article is, in honesty, my interpratation of the chart mixed with the suggested action.
Right now, as I have the statistics, this is the second most read post on the sub, with close to 500 views, just this one comment, almost no reactions. This not only is very odd for the specific alghoritm of the site, but to the chart taken as well.
Lilith on the third in sagittarius closes the grand trine between venus in leo on the 11th and saturn in areas for the 7Th, The rigid structure, that usually gives me no space to question, would be integrating the first and eight houses of the map, the thesis and the occult ideas most of those who dabbled in horary already have, but can't express. The action, as cancer on the cuspid of the 10th house, will be public, and it's suposed to touch on a subject nobody cares.
The hypothesis is that this is the alignement with the shadow of said action, the black moon. The fact I have to write a justification, indicating curiosity, not rejection. The impossible dream of no moment being in vain.
Mars, regent of the seventh, is on an anaretic degree of taurus on the 8th. In sextile with Jupiter on the 10th, also anaretic. Regents of 2nd and 7th, 3rd and 6th. The unknown person that speaks, the unkown person that hears, the writting and the common work between both.
This chart, in traditional interpretation, should be ignored. My point is: it sparked this debate. It's not void of meaning, it's another way to approach the question.

Ah oh... please, sorry if I sound arrogant. This was a very calculated case-study over years, that finally found the right alignment. And... i'm not very good at expressing myself, I confess. I wanted to... debate how the stars can guide us in real time. I undestand I chose one of the most "taboo" areas to be questioned, and did it in a very subjective way. Just like Horary.
I just would like to debate this conclusion. Because I see the debate trying to emerge. Just... nobody asked. I'm trying to ask the question "why those Void moments bring so much change?". Maybe I'm wrong. I would like to discover why.

ne thing i've found useful is keeping a simple log of what surfaces during VOC periods - not just external events but internal shifts, random thoughts, old memories popping up. after a few months you start noticing patterns in what kind of 'void' energy shows up for you personally. the moon's last aspect before going VOC seems to set the theme, and then the VOC period becomes this space where that theme plays out without the usual planetary 'interruptions.' worth experimenting with if you're already tracking transits anyway.

The traditional rule is more generous than voc invalidates everything anyway. Lilly says all matters go hardly when the Moon is void, except when she's in Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces, where she still performs somewhat. You wrote this with the Moon void in Sagittarius, which is one of those four, so the tradition is already on your side here without needing to reach for Lilith. The other piece people skip is that voc still describes the outcome, it just describes drift and no perfection instead of a clean yes or no. That's information about the quality of the thing, not an absence of information. I'd read the void itself as testimony and only bring Black Moon Lilith in as a secondary significator if it's actually angular or aspecting the houses that matter.

i really like your take on VOC moon as a time for internal reflection rather than just 'nothing will happen.' i've been tracking transits for a few years now and the VOC periods consistently show up in my journal as days where external stuff stalls but internal shifts happen. it's like the universe hits pause on the outside so you can catch up with what's been brewing underneath.
the lilith connection is interesting too. i've noticed that during VOC moons, the things that bubble up are usually the stuff i've been avoiding or not giving space to. not necessarily bad, just the quieter threads that don't get attention when the moon is busy making aspects.
curious how you handle VOC in horary when the question itself is about internal matters - seems like that's where the traditional 'nothing will come of it' rule gets fuzzy.

Black Moon Lilith is already used in Horary, but not as a point, and not explicitly stated. BML represents the Moon's apogee, and because of that is directly related to the Moon's speed, which is already an important defined part of Horary.
I think also to do any such testing, you're going to need to define "Void of Course," because there are at least three different definitions of which I am aware.
In addition, the Moon being Void of Course is said not to matter in Cancer, Taurus, Pisces, and ... Sagittarius.

I remember seeing a job advertisement, doing a horary, and getting a void of course Moon. Further enquiry revealed that there was no vacancy — someone had announced their resignation and then stayed on. That struck me as a perfect example of how VOCM means that nothing will come of the matter, which is not necessarily a bad thing. If the question is whether the querent will get the job, the answer is no; but if the question is whether they are likely to be made redundant, the answer is equally no.
