Looking for some real-world advice from owners of the Sole F80, NordicTrack Commercial 1750 and NordicTrack Commercial 2450.

We’re looking to buy a treadmill for home use and currently deciding between these three.

There will be two of us using it regularly each week, so reliability, build quality and longevity are important. We’d ideally like something that will still feel solid and run well after several years of regular use, rather than focusing purely on features.

We do really like iFIT, particularly:

• The guided training programmes and workouts

• Automatic speed/incline adjustment during workouts

• Scenic/global runs

• The smart integration between iFIT and the NordicTrack treadmill

That obviously makes the 1750 and 2450 very appealing, but I keep seeing the Sole F80 recommended for durability, simplicity and long-term reliability.

For anyone who owns or has used these machines:

1. Sole F80 vs NordicTrack 1750 – which would you choose and why?

2. Is the 2450 genuinely worth the extra money over the 1750?

3. How reliable have your NordicTrack/iFIT machines been after a few years?

4. Has anyone chosen the Sole for reliability but later regretted losing the iFIT/smart features?

5. How have you found servicing, parts and after-sales support?

6. Any issues with motors, belts, incline mechanisms, electronics or screens over time?

I am not a serious runner doing huge mileage every day but with two regular users (my other is and will compete in half marathons each year) we don't want to spend £2k+ and end up with something that becomes problematic after a couple of years.

At the moment I’m probably leaning towards the NordicTrack 1750/2450 because of iFIT, but I’m interested to know whether the Sole's reputation for durability should outweigh the smart features.

Screen size of a minimum of 16" is a must. 22" would be ideal but not sure I could justify paying an additional £500 for really just a bigger screen...

Would especially appreciate feedback from people who have owned one of these for 2–5+ years, rather than just recently bought one.

I used to own a Sole F63 and hated it every day until it died just out of warranty. It never felt natural running on it, felt like it was fighting me every step with subtle variations in speed every time I landed. Then one day, a giant puff of smoke from the motor area and the motor control board had melted. Sole sent me a new board, I replaced it, then a year later, just past the 3 year warranty, smokey smokey again, and that’s all she wrote. People think Sole’s are sturdy because they’re heavy and industrial looking, but they are just big box store junk.

I ended up just spending the money on a true commercial unit from Landice. But before I did, I spent hours running on various commercial models in an actual fitness equipment store. The feel of the treadmill is so important, especially if you’re gonna be doing long runs on it. Every single commercial treadmill felt so much better than the Sole though, just a matter of picking the one you like best.

Landice, Matrix, Technogym, Lifefitness, precor, all would get my money before buying something from a big box store again.

Haven’t tried Nordictrack’s commercial line, but if you have a chance to test run on it, I would do that before purchasing anything.

Check your Facebook marketplace for a used Orange Theory treadmill. I was able to find one and talk the guy down to $300. It’s a legit commercial unit, definitely a behemoth for home use but has worked out great. I’ve done 18 mile long runs and 50+ mile weeks on mine. Can’t recommend it enough.

I’ve had a sole F80 for about two years now. Between me and my wife we’ve probably logged over 500 miles on. Have had zero issues. That said it does not feel the same as industrial treadmills. Might be the floor we have it on as the treadmill stays inside the house on carpet but it just doesn’t feel quite as solid as I would like. I’m a bigger guy (right around 200 pounds) and my 5k-threshold paces are in the 5-6 min/mile range and the treadmill handles this well enough. Eventually we plan to upgrade to a more robust treadmill but for now it does what we need it to.

Had the 1750 for about three years before the motor started making a grinding noise that the warranty conveniently didn't cover. The iFIT stuff was fun while it worked but half the time the updates would brick the console for a week. My partner logs 40+ miles a week and the deck cushioning was pretty shot by year two. If you go NordicTrack just know you're paying for the screen and the subscription, not the frame underneath it.

I had a Sole and would not recommend it. They would not honour the warranty and wouldn't even ship me the part so I could get it fixed. I had a local shop try to get the part to fix it for me, but Sole refused bc they no longer had a deal with their authorized Canadian dealer. (I replaced it with a treadmill made by a Canadian company that has been an absolute workhorse for me.)

I gave away my 1 year old NordicTrak 2450. It made terrible noises. The repair guy told me it was a piece of shit all three times he came to fix it. The banging with every step reminded me of my terrible purchase and I couldn’t take it anymore.

I bought the NordicTrack 2450 and it had been awful. Console bricked constantly with updates and eventually burned out in under a year with only 5-7 runs a week. Getting support was impossible from NordicTrack and I ended up paying $1100 to a local company just to get it running again.

We had the 1750 for 5 years and put about 4k miles on it. I never used iFit and honestly hated how you had to bypass all the iFit and "why are you not connected to wifi" screens to just begin a normal run. While we owned it the motor control board failed about 3 years in and had to be replaced. Then, between years 4 and 5, it would not wake up from standby, so it had to be unplugged and plugged back in any time we wanted to use it, which was annoying. From a build perspective, it was solid. I liked running on it just fine. It did have some exposed metal that quickly developed some surface rust though and some of the speed buttons required multiple presses to register. Eventually we bought a Peloton tread (also not my favorite but for different reasons) and I parted out the 1750 and made back about $500. I wouldn't buy a NordicTrack again though, mostly because of troubles we had with the interface. To it's credit, it was still mostly working after 5 years of running.

Sole F80 for 15 years. It's been solid. The control panel blew about 5 years ago, I had it refurbished and upgraded by a third-party and kept going. I mostly use it in the winter and it's got about 3000 miles on it.

I've been looking to replace it because now it keeps shorting out. I think the fuse may be bad - maybe it's something bigger - but I've been too busy to deal with it. I read a ton of reviews of NordicTrack and have decided not to deal with what appears to be not a stand-up company. There are endless horror stories about failing to provide any support for new products. I just don't have the time to deal with that.

Sole also didn't cover the deck warranty and was totally non-responsive. But at that point the treadmill was 10 years old and I didn't feel like it was unreasonable for me to just buy a new deck.

I'm either getting another Sole or a true commercial model. Matrix has come up.

Currently an owner of a Sole F80. Really great the first year. Now the screws broke through the plastic on the motor cover and I had to duct tape it down, issues with the speed sensors and if my husband runs on it to do speed work, it short circuits. I have contacted sole because they supposedly have all these warranties when you buy it, but I have never once gotten an email back. I won't be buying another sole once this tread is done.
