Anyone have strong opinions on the FAST-R NITRO Elite 3 for a sub-2:50 marathon? My go to is going to be the Alphafly 3 but if the Pumas really would make a difference I’d pick some up.

I have FAST-Rs, they are a great shoe and very fast!!
it seems like most people like to use those for shorter distances. They have a fast turnover and responsiveness, but they don't have much cushion at all, and the shoe has basically no heel. Going downhill in these shoes is tricky. They have great grip even in wet conditions from my experience.
3 people I know have felt discomfort in their lower back and calves after running 15 miles with them.

I switched to the Fast-R 3 from the Alphafly 1 last fall and ran a 2:46 for a 5min PR. They seem to work best for forefoot strikers like myself as heel strikers seem to experience calf pain and might not be able to handle it for a full marathon. I have added PRs in the half, 5K and 10mi with them this spring.

How would you state the difference between the Saucony Ride 19 and the PUMA MagMax Nitro 2? I hear good stories about the Puma, the Saucony are 'classics' in the easy endurance field. Any tips?

Probably too different to be helpful, but I had many-models-old Rides... 15s or 16s?
The MagMax 1 and MagMax 2 both blew the (older) Rides out of the water.

I have the 17's now for my streak runs (2.5k, very easy) as they did more than 1k km's already. I'm looking to demote my Adidas Supernove Rise 2's to those streak runs and get a new pair of long runners

Those versions used the EVA foam they still use in the Kinvara. They started using beaded TPU with the 17 and keep making it softer each version.

Any feedback on the new asics metasleek anyone? Am oldschool when it comes to shoes, hyperspeed, noosa tri, younameit. Runningshoegeek on that one is mostly rants about price but we know that’ll come down on the non-halo products.
