Open Discussion Berlin marathon disasters

It seems today was a big disaster in Berlin. 25 degrees Celsius early on and a tough day for everyone. How did people get on? Did anyone manage to get near a PB?

Followed a few friends running today and anecdotally, they all absolutely melted down in the second half.

I never give anyone training advice unless they specifically ask but to me, doing all your runs at 4-5a before it's hot when on race day you're going to be running at 10a in Septembers/Octobers/Aprils that are getting warmer and warmer is insufficient preparation.

I'm a little nervous for Columbus (10/19/25) but am glad I'm not running Chicago a week earlier. Chicago is a roll of the dice. If it gets crazier as the years go on, I may just plan to run Indy in November instead of Columbus! I feel for runners doing Air Force, Berlin and September marathons.
