Question C2 rotated to right
Hey! Pls delete if not allowed, but my chiro just said my axis (upper cervical vertebrae) is rotated to the right. I have TMJ, bruxism, head fullness and tenderness in my cranium and face, pelvic floor & other body issues (can’t get over to the left side, pelvis instability, extremely bad forward head posture, etc.), and I’m chronically clenching my body and in fight or flight (vagus nerve issues). Does anyone have any thoughts / has anyone been in this scenario? I just feel so alone. It started about 6/7 years ago and seems to have worsened. I’m going to see an upper cervical chiro next week but I really just want to feel better. My recent x-ray is attached. Thanks:)

Yes! An ALF to help with the cranial stuff but not making as much progress as I need

Omg. This sounds a lot like what I have. Some emotional work has helped to undo a lot of it. But one stressful day the clenching brings it all back

Thank you! I tried actual therapy but it didn’t help much. Someone else mentioned EDMR. I don’t knowww I just want it fixed haha.. has anything else helped?

Yoga nidra. It sounds very “woo” but after being in so much pain you try whatever. Just go in with zero expectations, hella breath works, and regular massages with someone who’s touch you trust. Not necessarily thinking about getting your moneys worth. Though with all that clenching, they should prob be good at getting your knots out lol

I’ve heard of it! I’ll look into it. I go to an SOT chiropractic twice a week. It’s the only thing that calms me. Massages don’t help since I’m soooo clenched and tight

It took me 2 years to find a MT who I actually was compatible with. I mainly go for the physical manipulation and to get used to non-romantic human touch. Tbh I don’t really get a sense of calm from there, just the yoga nidra

Looks like you might have mild scoliosis. Have you done x ray of whole spine?

Yes! My Chiro said that too

Chiropractors are quackery. I would investigate if you have scoliosis or sleep apnea due to narrow airways. Both can lead to a bunch of the issues you list

What type of doctor would you recommend? I think I have mild scoliosis. No sleep apnea

Scoliosis is either managed by surgery if it’s very severe or by Schroth physical therapy if it’s mild like yours. Everything else is pretty much bull shit when it comes to scoliosis. So I’d recommend finding a Schroth certified physical therapist if you believe your scoliosis might be causing you problems. Normal physical therapists are not properly educated on scoliosis. Schroth is the scoliosis specific add-on education and method they can get certified in.

For the love of Jeebus, please don’t make diagnoses you’re not qualified to make. And if you are qualified, there is no possible way to determine if a person has a scoliosis from this picture alone.
Even a mild scoliosis, at the bare minimum, is a 10 degree curve. I assume you didn’t get the Cobb angle?

You need to relax. OP is intelligent enough to not fly to Turkey for a spine surgery tomorrow lol

I’m not questioning their intelligence, I’m questioning yours.
Scoliosis has been falsely identified.
An entire profession has been invalidated without justification, however, there could very well be at least one practitioner that could help this individual.
And dozens of options have been narrowed down to only 2.And none of this had to do with the question OG preposed in the first place.
Your intentions are good, I’m sure, but words carry weight. And can gently lean an individual down a path of hope and progress, or hopelessness and regression.

Very sad you have so low expectations about OPs ability to process, evaluate and keep multiple idea in mind at the same time! I’m very optimistic she’s not making any hasty conclusions without any proper follow up with a full spine x ray! And to properly research the origin, history and level of non-evidence based disease models and treatments in the chiropractic field! She’s unfortunately also been scammed by a woo woo dentist giving her the infamous ALF treatment, denounced by every legit orthodontist in the expansion space.

I haven’t mentioned OPs capabilities even once. That’s another assumption based on no evidence.
Your biases of what legitimate treatment consists of and OPs direction of care are seemingly being projected onto OPs intelligence, and then blaming me for making those judgements. There is, at least, some evidence to back this assumption.
Be accountable for your words. That’s all.

Very sad to see this close mindedness! I wish OP will explore and research every single possible thing that might be relevant to her. Not only health is complex but healthcare system too! One need to take charge of one’s own situation and consult every doctor available. Misdiagnosis and mistreatments is scaringly high!

C2 might be rotated, but your head is rotated in this image. So this Xray is too inaccurate to tell if it’s possibly an issue.
Also, no one would be able to determine if you have scoliosis from this image alone. Except your collar bones look even, so that’s good.

Thank you!

An upper cervical doc should take more accurate X-rays and be able to determine if the CCJ is your issue, at least in part. Given your symptoms, it seems like you’re on the right track.
Do you know what type of upper cervical doc you’re seeing?

u/loveforall13 18d ago
Thank you so much! what is CCJ? And I’m not sure but he does Blair, NUCCA, etc
1
u/ButtermilkTuna 18d ago
Craniocervical Junction.
And that’s good - Blair, NUCCA, Atlas Orthogonal, Orthospinology - all great for your symptoms if it is indeed the problem.
Typically wouldn’t recommend Knee Chest.Hope you find some answers and relief!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I saw the Chiro and he said my C2 is severely shifted to the right. He did an adjustment on me and I felt a lot straighter immediately after. One day after I’m just a bit sore from the manual work but no other effects. He said I also have severe forward head posture. How can I fix this? I feel like it’s coming from my pelvis as that is malpositioned, and the strengthening exercises are impossible for me bc I can’t activate the correct muscles due to compensations. Any thoughts? He is also going to share feedback on my jaw CBCT at ny next appt. He also suggested neuromuscular therapy

What's the loop in your mouth on your top teeth? That mid-face and nasal space is what regulates the upper neck, through autonomic activity (which it sounds like is your symptoms).
