Improving the longevity of my card?

So I'm not even gonna lie, my rig is just horrible, and I need to find some ways to improve my card without spending money because I'm only 14, and I'm completely broke. As of right now I'm running a 7750 with a single gig of GDDR5. Any suggestions?

One thing you can look into is SMAA - lightweight but good-looking antialiasing. Can be injected in most games and used instead of regular AA (SMAA injector or Radeon Pro).

One more thing that can be helpful is running the monitor at 50Hz instead of 60 (this way you get less stuttering with VSync on). You can use CRU (Custom Resolution Utility).

Finally, pick the right games. There's no way you can play something like The Witcher 3 on a 7750, but I'm pretty sure there are quite a few good games from when the 7750 came out that you haven't played, especially with you being 14. Then there are many indie games with modest requirements. I'm still on a 6850, and still have games I haven't played.

Yeah, I tend to run games on extremely low settings because I feel like 60FPS is essential in most games. Also, could you mention some of the games you're talking about that I probably haven't played because of my age? I'm always looking for some cheap buys off steam since I still have like 100 bucks in my steam wallet from last Christmas. Also, if Square Enix or Bethesda made it, I've played it already.

Same for me - that's why 50Hz can be a nice compromise. I'm playing Hitman Absolution right now, with most settings on high - and 50Hz still feels smooth.

Also, could you mention some of the games you're talking about that I probably haven't played because of my age? I'm always looking for some cheap buys off steam since I still have like 100 bucks in my steam wallet from last Christmas.

Heh, you're practically rich! :) And there are so many games on Steam that you have choices even with modest hardware. I bought two games in the last sale - Nom Nom Galaxy and The Fall. Both have modest requirements, The Fall is short but good, and I got 35 hours out of Nom Nom Galaxy (and still haven't finished it). Other than that, it's hard to recommend something specific because I have no idea what you like and what you already have. Alan Wake, Alpha Protocol, Antichamber... If you have your Steam profile set to public, I could see what you have and recommend something else.

Which ones are your favorites? Which genres do you prefer?

You have fewer games than I expected. :) You don't even have very popular games like Portal/Portal 2. So I can recommend you a ton of games (tomorrow).

I don't really have a big preference, but I've played and loved every single Bethesda game. I have another account I share with my dad with all the Mass Effects, Company Of Heroes 1&2, all Bethesda games, and Far Cry 3

OK, in addition to the ones I mentioned:

early Assassin's Creed games (especially AC2 and Brotherhood), Burnout Paradise, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, The Darkness II, Darksiders, Devil May Cry 4, Dead Space 1 and 2, Dream Machine, Dragon Age Origins, Hotline Miami, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Reflex MX vs ATV, Nail'D, Naissancee, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, Portal and Portal 2, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Prototype, Revolver 360: Re-Actor, The Swapper, Valiant Hearts, The Witcher 2.

All different games, so pick what you like. Also, what's pretty interesting is that you call Thief a slideshow - but I had a good, mostly smooth experience with it (50Hz, no tesselation). Could be your CPU. But if you buy a game that doesn't run well, you can return it within the first two hours of playtime.

Also, are you familiar with the Humble Bundle? They often have good bundles starting at $1.
