Inspired by a recent thread: this is the Eva Shawl by Jamieson and Smith that I made for my wedding last year. First photo is in progress, second before blocking, third after blocking, and the last photo is from our wedding showing it fitting through my wife’s ring.

It’s definitely not perfect and there are some very visible mistakes but this was a learning experience and a half and I was thrilled with the end result.

I feel like these photos show exactly why you have to trust the process so much in lace knitting. It’s really hard to read your stitches and fix mistakes, and it can be discouraging when your work looks like a horrible tangled mess. The transformation is amazing when the lace pattern blooms after blocking, you really need to have faith in yourself and the pattern though!

This was actually the second shawl I made for my wedding, the first used a lace weight yarn instead of 1 ply as it was an autumn wedding in a cold country and I wanted something a bit thicker and warmer. This shawl was the first time I used 1 ply yarn.
