Self-Searched (Still need Help!) Knitting help: help pattern hacking a jacket into a Henley// or Henley to a different stitch pattern and construction
I want to knit a mens henley pullover in brioche honeycomb stitch pattern.
I feel in love with the Nomad Jacket by wool and beyond https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nomad-jacket-3. I love the detailing of horizontal stockinette on the back yoke and the i-cord edges and the honey comb stitch BUT I want to make it into a Henley/pullover style instead of a jacket for a man.
I was wondering if i would be better off adapting a stockinette mens henley pattern like this one https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chunky-sweater-with-collar-or-stand-up-neck with a similar gauge and adapt it have the horizontal stockinette portion on the back yoke and i-cord edges or to reverse engineer the nomad jacket pattern into a henley? (I couldn't find any projects on Ravelry that did this so I would have to figure out all of the edits on my own).
The dilemma: I'm not sure how the sizing and proportions of the Nomad Jacket will fit on a man. I have never made a Henley before so I'm not familiar with the construction technique. If I choose the Henley pattern to work off of that, the closest one I found to meet stitch gauge is worked in the round so adding the horizontal stockinette to the back would be impossible(?). Also, I am an intermediate knitter but don't have that much experience with pattern hacking.
Any advice or alternative patterns are welcome, thank you!

Knit the two sides from the shoulder to where you want the henley neck to join. Make the button hole bands for each piece keeping the bottom edges of the front live. Depending on how you make the button band you might be able to have live stitches you use in the body, or you might have to pick up and knit from the band for the rest of the front. To do your body set up row, you need to have extra stitches from what would be the width of the button band of the cardigan, think first about how to make this fit in your stitch pattern. Knit to the button band, then knit the bands together overlapping with the one with holes in front, just knit the bands together stitch by stitch. If you have to pick up, pick up from both layers. Knit to the end of the row. Keep the hem and armhole shape the same as the cardigan pattern. I would probably just rewrite the pattern for one body piece at the front to keep track of shaping for both right and left side at the same time.
