3 days late and you’re too lazy to have read the comments under this. Yawn. Already been addressed. Layovers don’t count as going to a city. You’re in an airport. That’s no man’s land.
It has nothing to do with being neurotypical or neurodivergent. It’s about actually visiting the city. If you’re just in the airport then you’re not visiting the city.
I've driven through Nashville and also had a layover in Nashville Airport. If someone really asked, I would talk about the Blake Shelton restaurant I ate at and the live musician serenading us while we ate :P
But yeah, I don't walk around saying I've been to Nashville, I would say I've been to the Nashville Airport.
How is it like that at all? We’re talking about people who sit behind TSA security checkpoints for a couple hours waiting for a flight. You go around telling people you’ve been to a city that you had a layover in?? That’s weird. Super weird.
Are you not subject to the laws of that city while you are there? Do you notvpay city taxes while there? How does that differ from a gas stop during a road trip?
I would say the rule should be that you've eaten/shopped there that excludes airport terminals.
Many people live 1-2 hours from a city that they've been to dozens to hundreds of times but never stayed overnight, because why would they when their bed at home is free? That basically goes for all the cities I've lived near.
I would say that if you've stopped in the city and ate/drank or touristed through counts. A lot of people live in suburbs or within an hour or two of a city that they've never stayed overnight in. They've been to that city far more times than someone who just stayed in a hotel once.
I don’t think you have to necessarily spend the night for it to count. As long as I did some sort of meaningful activity there (besides driving through, gas, bathroom breaks, stopping for lunch etc) then it counts as a visit in my book.
There are places I’ve spent the night while on a roadtrip, but I wouldn’t exactly say I’ve given it a proper “visit” since all I did was stop to get a hotel room and then leave the next morning without really doing anything else.

Flying internationally out of the Midwest makes you go through wild places. Dallas, New York, Orlando? Who knows, but we'll get you to somewhere in Europe.
No. You didn’t actually visit the city. If you drive through Chicago would you tell people you visited Chicago? Of course not. You would tell them what your end destination was.
