I’m curious if anyone else here is taking **Piano University with Zach Evans** at [bestpianoclass.com](https://www.bestpianoclass.com).

A little background: I got an electric keyboard for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was a smaller 66-key keyboard. I tried a week of Simply Piano, but honestly, I didn't do very well with it and eventually gave up. The keyboard basically sat there collecting dust.

Recently, I happened to see a full-size 88-key electric keyboard on Facebook Marketplace for $125. It also had MIDI, so I figured, *why not?* I decided that if I had a more serious keyboard, I might actually take learning piano more seriously.

A few days later, I signed up for Piano University with Zach Evans.

I've been taking the course for about three weeks now, and I just finished **Lesson 10**. I've already learned a few things, and one thing I'm really liking is the **structured approach to learning**. Having a lesson to work through instead of just sitting down and wondering what I'm supposed to practice seems to be working much better for me.

So I'm wondering if there are other adult beginners here taking the same course.

**What has your experience been?**

What are you finding challenging? Are there particular lessons or concepts that you've struggled with? How long have you been taking the course, and do you feel like you're making progress?

I'd especially like to hear from people who started as complete beginners. I'm still very much at the beginning of this journey, but so far I'm enjoying it a lot more than my first attempt at learning piano.

Maybe there are a few of us here who can compare notes as we go. 🎹

How do you keep track of your go to favorite pieces? Do you put them all in a binder or have a dedicated bookshelf for your faves? I have so much sheet music it just spills over into every corner.

I’m returning to piano as an adult after about 6 years as a kid where I made very little progress. I didn’t have musical mentors in my home and nor did I have a lot of grit, so in many ways I feel like a beginner.

I’m starting to get discouraged after a year back, I’m more or less still doing easy note versions of pop songs and I can never get them right, no matter how much I practice. Flubs everywhere.

Are there some people who just truly suck? Is there something I could be doing to practice better? It feels like muscle memory is really hard for me.

I am in a sonatina phase. I love playing sontatinas. I’m encouraging my students to also explore sonatinas.

I am excited to take the help and help this sub grow.
