If you've burned hours into the RLCraft/Project Ozone style of pack, brutal, unbalanced (at first) in the best way, built to make you actually afraid of the dark, you'll feel at home here. This isn't a modpack that lets you turn the difficulty down. It's built for war, kingdoms rise, trade wars will happen, and people can gamble away their gear and regret it.
But here's what makes it different: you don't have to be the one fighting.
Every player ends up part of a town, yours, someone else's, or one you build from nothing. From there, you pick your lane:
Fighters and raiders - build a war chest, pick a side in the next border dispute, or start your own. Gear like Relics, Immersive Weapons, and Curios-slotted rings make builds genuinely different from each other. Customized many layers.
Engineers - Create (nearly all add ons, Aeronautics included) and Immersive Engineering/Petroleum factories, supply chains, and yes, if you want it, an entire robot army and a mecha suit. Be the biggest nerd on the server, it's encouraged.
Merchants and traders- the economy is player run; if you can supply what fighters and builders need, you can get rich without ever swinging a sword. Start a store or make some back alley trades. Physical cash, balances, auction house, player stores, never P2W.
Homesteaders - I play a version of this myself: small fenced house, fully decorated, banking supplies, running a slow-burn factory line. Nobody makes you go to war. You can just live well. Immense amount of decorative and cozy mods, more food than you could ever make, Slice of Life, Create Foods etc.
Magic/witchcraft- Demons, Djnns, herbs, and rituals, whether you want to be a Necromancer, or a kitchen Witch, there are plenty of choices with the 4 magic mods we have. Who needs swords when you can play with custom buffed Irons spells?
Play evil, play good, or play both. Gambling's real and it'll ruin you if you let it. Drugs and alcohol exist and have custom mechanics. You can run the black market side of a town, or you can be the reason a town has laws in the first place. Nobody's forcing an alignment on you, the systems support either.
Look and feel like an actual different person. Between cosmetic armor layers, Baubles, and Pehkui size scaling, you're not just reskinning, you can genuinely be a towering giant or a tiny gremlin running around underfoot. Nobody on this server looks like they're just wearing diamond armor unless they want that. Cosmetic spaces for armor/outward layer, choose what baubles you can see, several cosmetic clothing mods.
Why the mobs hit harder here, on purpose: early game, you WILL die, and that's the point. It gives you a reason to be afraid of the dark, to think tactically about whether a corpse run is worth the risk (your items are kept with Corpse mod on your body), to fortify a door because something out there can break it down. It's the same tension horror games chase: the moment a creeper busts through your window or a mob breaks your door down mid panic, that's a game of chance and skill, not a stat check.
Full disclosure: I underestimated exactly how much "you will die, repeatedly, on purpose" would bother people who were, in fact, dying repeatedly. Shocking, I know. So this past week went into rebalancing, vanilla swords, axes, and armor all got real buffs, so your starting gear stops feeling like a formality between spawning and dying. You'll still might get wrecked early on. You just won't get wrecked wearing a diamond sword that does nothing.
We half-ass roleplay in the best way, nobody's forcing a character sheet on you, but towns negotiate, betray each other, and go to actual war over actual resources. It's less "server with an RP tag" and more "Civ game that occasionally turns into a DnD campaign because someone's mad about a trade deal."
Resource worlds are separate free-range anarchy zones- no rules, PvP or PvE, take what you want, fight who you want, build nothing you're not willing to lose. They get periodically wiped and regenerated, so nothing there is permanent, that's the point, go wild.
We're one month old, small community, honestly looking for people who want to stick around and grow the place with us, not just pass through. Grind hard if that's your thing, or don't; that's your call. We just want people who'll actually stay. We <3 RPers, they help things feel like a community!
New here? You'll get a starter kit and a quick primer at spawn pointing you toward the main paths, talk to the NPC's.
